Five of the 8 tornadoes the National Weather Service has confirmed that took place early Saturday morning in Indiana took place in Southern Indiana.
Three more took place around Merrillville, Cedar Lake and Terre Haute and all were wither EF0 or EF1 in nature.
The remaining five tornadoes were located in:
- Oakland City – EF2
- Loogootee – EF2
- Oakland City – EF2
- Somerville – EF2
- Wegan – EF1
The Wegan tornado started about 5:14a and had wind speeds of 105mph or more.
The tornado started Southeast of Vallonia and proceeded on a path northeast into Jackson County for about 2.22 miles.
Jackson County REMC had around 4,000 customers without power on Saturday morning and after linemen worked through the weekend there were less than 100 without power late Sunday night.
- Orleans – EF1
The tornado in Orange County started around Orleans and proceeded about 11 miles with maximum winds of 110mph.
