Margie Faye Wingler, 80, Salem passed away on Monday, April 29, 2025, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Indiana, surrounded by her loved ones.

Margie was born on July 22, 1944, in Salem, Indiana, to Volna and Blanche Nichols. She graduated from Salem High School in 1962 and soon after enlisted in the United States Army as a private.

Following an honorable discharge, she returned to Salem to raise her family. Margie worked at several local factories and later at Goodwill, where she built lasting friendships with her coworkers.

She had a deep love for reading, crossword puzzles, and collecting cow memorabilia. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family.

Annual trips to Spring Mill State Park were among her favorite
traditions, where many cherished memories were made. Margie was well known for having her grandchildren with her during their summer breaks, whether traveling to Tennessee and North Carolina or simply enjoying time at her home in Salem.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Volna and Blanche Nichols, and her beloved grandson, Levi Holstein.

She is survived by her brother Rick Nichols (Theressa); her children Pamela Whalin, Stacy Nicholson, Lawanda Nicholson (Bobby), Gregory Nicholson Jr., Trent Wingler (Kim), and Dusty Wingler; and her grandchildren: Trampas Whalin (Hannah), Jamie Burlington, Tara Griffin (Dusty), Amanda Godfrey, Shelly Warner, Eliza Wingler, Abigale Cole (Dalton), Katlyn Wingler, Aryonna Hacker, Gracelynn Persinger, and Kalijah Hacker.

She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Lilly, Emma, Lennon, Jackson, Ezra, Marcus, Oliver, Ben, and Xavier, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services for Margie will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Dawalt Funeral Home, 204 East Main Street, Salem, Indiana 47167.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the
funeral service to follow. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery in Scottsburg, Indiana.
