Yesterday afternoon (Monday) at approximately 1:41 pm an Amish horse was tethered by the Walmart Auto Center in Salem auto when it got loose and apparently tried to go home, pulling the buggy with it.

According to the Salem Police Department the horse was headed westbound on Hackberry Street with no driver but still pulling it’s buggy.

On the bridge before SR 56 and 60 divide, the horse broke loose from it’s buggy and proceeded further on SR 56, possibly heading home.

Salem Police Officer Russell Wilcoxson and Washington County Deputy Brad Naugle were able to stop the horse and it was returned to its owners.
