Salem Man Arrested on Child Molestation Charges

Sunday afternoon, local police officers arrested 35-year old Jeremy Wayne Underwood, Salem, on three counts of child molestation, following an Indiana State Police investigation which began in May.

Following an investigation, Indiana State Police Detective Travis Baker provided all information to the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office for review and charging.
 
An arrest warrant was issued for Underwood on July 29 for three counts of Child Molestation; each charge is a Level 4 Felony.

On Sunday, August 3 Jeremy Underwood was located and arrested by officers with the Salem Police Department and remanded into the Washington County Jail without incident.

On May 19, 2025, an Indiana Department of Child Services family case manager reported allegations of inappropriate sexual contact between Underwood and a minor to ISP Detective Baker, who then launched a criminal investigation into the matter.

 
The investigation was conducted along with DCS personnel and included a forensic interview with the victim at a local child advocacy center.
