Terry Brooks, age 72 of Pekin, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in his home. Born July 3,1953, in Corbin, Kentucky, he was the son of Charles Brooks, Sr. and Louise (Payne) Brooks. For much of his life, Terry was a resident of Washington County and retired from GKN in 2005. He was also proud of his work as an electrician and was always ready to help family and friends using his experience. Terry cherished time spent with his family and was lovingly known to his grandchildren as ‘Pappy’ or ‘Happy’. He was known for being an avid fan of Star Trek and could usually be found watching episodes on repeat.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Laura L. (Dowdle) Brooks; his daughters, Heather (David) Jacobi and Tara (Ben) Miller; his brothers, Wayne (Linda) Brooks and Jerry (Jessie) Brooks; his grandchildren, Mitchell (Holly) Marlman, Hailey (Kyle) Jackson, Jaxon (Destiny) Blake, Heidi Smallwood, Cami Smallwood, and Jack Miller; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his children, Nathan Blake and Kara Brooks; and his sisters, Phyllis Brooks and Joyce Brooks-Gambrel.
Visitation for Terry Brooks will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at Dawalt Funeral Home, located at 204 E. Market Street, Salem, Indiana 47167.
Interment will take place privately at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany, Indiana.
