Abby Lee Holden Brough, age 40, of Salem, Indiana went peacefully home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 27, 2025 surrounded by her loving family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 26, 1985 in Weston, West Virginia, Abby was the daughter of Steve Holden and Beth Kemper Holden of Weston, West Virginia.
Abby was united in marriage on August 10, 2012 to her loving husband, Nathan Allen Brough, who will miss her dearly.
Abby was a graduate of Lewis County High School, Class of 2004; she grew up loving sports and was very athletically inclined, excelling in cheer, basketball, and softball.
After graduating from LCHS, she attended Fairmont State University where she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts.
She was a member of the Paoli United Pentecostal Church and loved her faith, family, and church family; she was former chef at the West Baden Springs Hotel and French Lick Resort and was most recently employed by the West Washington School Corporation.
Cherishing Abby’s memories are her husband, Nathan, and their children: daughter, Hannah Elizabeth, and twin sons Isaac Vernon and Levi Charles; parents, Steve and Beth Holden; brother, Curtis Holden (Angie) of Weston; grandfather, James Hugh Kemper, of Camden, West Virginia; niece, Chloe Holden, and nephews, Carder and Camden Holden, all of Weston; and many special aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Monroe Holden; grandmothers, Carolyn Lee Kemper and Lois Lee Holden; and grandfather, Charles Raymond Holden.
Abby will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and being so happy around people. She will be missed so very much by her many friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home – Salem Chapel with Barry Laird officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Services will also be held in Abby’s hometown of Weston, West Virginia on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Hardman Family Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Snyder Cemetery.
