The Indiana Hoosiers Football team are making history and are on the cusp of a National Title, which would make IU the only school in the US with an undefeated Basketball and Football team.

As the Hoosiers play the Miami Hurricanes in Miami on Monday, Jan. 19 at 7:30p at Hard Rock Stadium, many schools across the state are recognizing that many families will be watching together.

East Washington and Salem School Corporations have agree to a 2-hour delay for Tuesday, Jan. 20 to give the students a little extra sleep.

West Washington will have virtual learning on Tuesday.

The three schools are also hosting a county-wide food drive benefiting the Washington County Food Bank.

The drive will take place Jan. 14 through Jan. 16.

The schools encourage students, families, and staff to bring in non-perishable food items and help us turn school spirit into an opportunity to support the community.

Please refer to your students building for details on where to drop off items.

Eastern schools will be providing childcare for those parents who will need to be at work early on Tuesday. Those details will be released to students from each building.

According to Keith Nantz, WW Superintendent, “We are aware that this causes a disruption for families and we apologize. Staff were surveyed and it was apparent that we were going to have staffing issues due to individuals electing to take this day off. Additionally, older students were reporting that they may be missing that day. This information led to our decision to make this day a virtual day.”
