Betty Menear, 96, of Salem, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
She was born October 15, 1929, in Campbellsburg, Indiana, the daughter of Walter and Edith (Lawyer) Perdiew .
Betty graduated from Campbellsburg High School and was the owner of Menear Real Estate. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was actively involved in the community. She served as President of the Board of Realtors in Washington in 1983 and as a director of the Chamber of Commerce from 1977 to 1978. She was also a member of Business and Professional Women and was named Woman of the Year in 1982.
On June 12, 1948, she married Harry “Bud” Menear, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1986.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Tye and husband Joe Tye; granddaughters Jennifer Ford (James) and Courtney Royko (Josh); and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her devoted companion, Bob Strange. She was preceded in death by 2 Brothers – 2 Sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Claysville Cemetery Fund.
Visitation: 10 am to 1 pm Friday 1/30/2026 at Dawalt Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Friday 1/30/2026 at Dawalt Funeral Home with Brian Morphonios officiating.
Interment will be held at Claysville Cemetery Campbellsburg, Indiana.
