Charles C. Troyer, age 79, of Borden, Indiana, passed away on January 18, 2026 In Louisville, Kentucky after his battle with cancer. He was born September 5, 1946 in Sumner, Illinois to the late Guy and Dana Troyer.
Charles was the son of missionary parents and spent his childhood with them as they traveled in Egypt. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and Reserves. During this time, he worked for his Bachelor’s Degree and was promoted to Tech Sgt. He worked on many aircraft in his lifetime, retiring from Bell Helicopters as a Quality Engineer. Charles traveled extensively, spending much of his adult life in Texas, but living in many parts of the country and states. After retirement, he continued serving his community as a school bus driver in Salem. Charles was fun-loving, outgoing, and had a great sense of humor. He loved NFL football, cheering on the Dallas Cowboys. An avid horse lover, he was a two-time barrel-racing champion. He will be dearly missed by his Paint horse, Ride-On, who gave him a kiss each time he fed him.
Charles is survived by his wife, Rhonda Troyer; daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Scudiero and Jessica (Brandon) Johnson; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Steve (Mickie) Troyer; sisters, Linda Beal, Naomi (Lynn) Morrison, and Debby (Mike) Humphress; two nieces; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Dana Troyer; and one daughter, Heather Hampton.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home – Pekin Chapel with Dr. Michael Scudiero officiating. Visitation will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Martinsburg Cemetery.
