Troopers arrested a Scott County man on felony drug charges after he crashed his car on U.S. 31 in Clark County on March 6.

Shortly before three on Wednesday morning, Trooper Taylor Wolfe responded to the report of a single-vehicle roll-over crash on U.S. 31 near Brownstown Road in Henryville. 

Responding officers were also alerted that the driver was removing articles from the car and placing them in a wooded area near the crash.  

Once on the scene, officers identified 35-year-old Nathan Baldwin of Scottsburg as the driver. 

Baldwin was arrested and transported to the Clark County Jail on the following charges: 

1. Unlawful Possession of Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon – Level 4 Felony.  
2. Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug – Level 5 felony.
3. Dealing in Methamphetamine – Level 5 felony.
4. Obstruction of Justice – Level 6 felony.
5. Possession of Legend Drug Injection Devices- Level 6 Felony
6. Possession of Paraphernalia – A Misdemeanor

As a result of the investigation, officers believe Baldwin attempted to avoid deer on the wet roadway and lost control of his Camaro.  The vehicle left the roadway and overturned in a ditch on the west side of the road. 

While continuing the investigation, officers located a backpack lying in the woods.  The backpack contained suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia and information allegedly linking the backpack to Baldwin.  

Following the investigation, ambulance personnel medically cleared Nathan Baldwin at the scene.
