Rick E. Stewart, age 70, of Salem, passed away surrounded by his family Sunday, September 18 at Lincoln Hills Health Center in New Albany.

Rick was born January 27, 1952 in Scottsburg the son of Bert and Shirley Zink Stewart. He was a United States Airforce Veteran.

He was retired from the Washington County Sheriffs Department, and previously worked at the Indiana Department of Corrections as a guard. Rick was currently serving on the Salem City Council.

He was a member of Fishing Creek Christian Church, the VFW Post #6636, American Legion Post #41, D.A.V, Salem Moose Lodge, Salem Eagles Club, and the F.O.P. He was a Salem High School Class of 1970 graduate.

He is survived by his children: Bradley Stewart of Florida, Kellie A. Stewart-Carl (Rob) of Borden, Richie Stewart (Elizabeth) of Salem, and Robbie Stewart (Laura) also of Salem, a brother: Kevin Stewart (Dawn) of Salem, 11 grandchildren: Devan Stewart, Austin Carl (Haylea), Blake Carl (Skyler), Madison Stewart, Mason Meadors, Gracee Shocke, ZZ Stewart, Ashlyn Stewart, Collin Shocke, Jocelyn Stewart, and Braelyn Stewart, and his girlfriend: Connie Mills.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Shirley Stewart.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday at Weathers Funeral Home. Officiating will be his nephew: Kyle Stewart.

Burial will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 9AM-until time of service.
