The Indiana Senate Republican Caucus is offering paid spring-semester internships in its communications, information technology, legal, legislative and policy offices during the 2022 session of the Indiana General Assembly, said State Sen. Erin Houchin (R-Salem).
Qualified candidates may be of any major and must be at least a college sophomore. Recent college graduates, as well as graduate and law school students, are also encouraged to apply. Positions are open to Indiana residents, as well as non-residents who attend a college or university in Indiana.
Interns earn a $750 biweekly stipend and benefit from scholarship and academic credit opportunities, professional development, community involvement, and networking.
Senate internships are full-time positions at the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis that typically begin with a mandatory orientation in late December and conclude at the end of the legislative session in March 2022.
“As a past Senate intern I know how beneficial this internship can be for young Hoosiers looking to begin their careers,” Houchin said. “Interns are given the opportunity to gain unique skills and knowledge that will help them advance in whatever career path they choose. I encourage eligible students in Senate District 47 who wish to serve their community and gain professional experience to apply for this valuable internship.”
For more information and to access an application, visit www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Intern.
The deadline to apply is Oct. 31.

Indiana State Police Detectives from the Bloomington District continue to investigate the death of Indiana University student and Cambridge City native, Ann Harmeier.
Harmeier, 20, was a junior honor student at IU who was returning to the Bloomington campus when her car stalled on State Highway 37, just north of Martinsville in the fall of 1977. Following a nationwide search for her whereabouts, Harmeier’s body was discovered five weeks later on October 18, 1977, in a nearby cornfield.
Sunday, Sept. 12th, will mark the 44th anniversary of Ann’s disappearance. There has been continued focus on the Harmeier case and ISP detectives are pursuing all new leads in the case.
While no immediate family exists, her extended family and friends are thankful for the outpouring of support and echoed the Indiana State Police request for help in solving her murder.
“Ann was a kind, generous and talented young woman who left a legacy of a beautiful life and unlimited potential,” said Ann’s cousin Scott Burnham. “Her friends and extended family are committed to keeping Ann’s memory alive. We know that someone knows something about her murder and we remain hopeful that they will come forward with information that will solve this terrible crime.”
ISP continues to seek the assistance of the public and they urge anyone with information to contact the Indiana State Police Bloomington Post at 812-332-4411
