Two Flown to Hospital after Head-on Crash on US-150

0

Troopers from the Indiana State Police are investigating an injury crash involving a passenger car and a pick-up truck that sent both drivers to the University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.

At approximately 11:12 Saturday morning, Troopers Kevin Bowling and Brett Walters, along with officers from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Posey Township Fire Department, responded to a crash on US-150 just west of Kay’s Chapel Road, located between Fredericksburg and Hardinsburg.

When officers and first responders arrived, they found a beige 2014 Buick LaCrosse had collided head-on with a white 2013 Chevrolet Silverado.

Both vehicles were stationary in the westbound lane of the highway.

Air ambulances were called for both drivers, who were the sole occupants of their cars.

The driver of the Buick had to be extricated from the vehicle before being flown out.

Troopers on-scene called an ISP Crash Reconstruction Team to assist in the investigation.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the westbound Buick, driven by Linda J. Flock, 66, of New Salisbury, crossed over into the westbound lane and collided with the Silverado.

The Silverado was driven by Heidi Nicole Cochran, 20, of Hardinsburg.

Investigators are still trying to determine why the Buick crossed over into the westbound lane.

Both drivers were taken to University Hospital in Louisville.

As of this news release, Flock is listed in critical condition, and Cochran is listed in serious condition. Family members of both drivers have been contacted.

US-150 remained closed for approximately three hours.

This crash remains under investigation.

Seymour Man Charged with Stealing $20,000 from Jackson-Washington Twp. Fire Department

0

Today, Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post arrested a Seymour, Indiana man on theft and forgery charges following a nearly 10-month investigation into the theft of funds from a volunteer fire department.

The investigation by Detective Jason Duncan, ISP-Versailles, began in September of 2020 when officials with the Jackson-Washington Township Fire Department, Jackson County, Indiana, contacted the Indiana State Police and requested an investigation after suspecting one of the department’s members stole thousands of dollars from the department.

The investigation determined that during 2019 and 2020, Christopher L. McKain, age 44, Seymour, Indiana was tasked with doing various jobs for the fire department.

McKain allegedly told the department that jobs were completed or purchased from numerous businesses in the area.

He then forged invoices from the businesses, showing that work had been completed and items had been purchased by McKain.

McKain then submitted the fraudulent invoices to the Jackson-Washington Township Treasurer where he was reimbursed.

It was determined that McKain stole approximately $20,000 from the department through getting reimbursed from forged invoices during the two-year span.

After the investigation was completed, the case was turned over to the Jackson County Prosecutor for review.

Today, troopers with the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post arrested Christopher McKain on a Jackson County Circuit Warrant for Theft, Level 6 Felony, and Forgery, Level 6 Felony.

He was incarcerated at the Jackson County Jail pending his initial appearance in the Jackson County Circuit Court.

New Albany Police Officer Charged with Voyeurism

A New Albany police officer was arrested and charged with two counts of Voyeurism, each a Level 6 Felony.

Officer Adam Schneider, 40, Memphis, was booked into the Clark County Jail this afternoon.

On Monday, June 28th, 2021, Indiana State Police Detective Sergeant Dave Mitchell began investigating allegations of criminal conduct Schneider.

During the investigation, Detective Mitchell obtained a search warrant for Schneider’s personal phone.

An examination of the phone revealed two videos and several still images depicting two separate adult females changing clothes in what appeared to be a private changing room. In one video, the female was completely undressed.

The videos gave the appearance the females did not know they were being filmed.

As a result of the investigation, Detective Mitchell learned that a camera had been mounted in a changing room as part of a business located at Schneider’s residence in Memphis, Indiana.

He also found that the two females were unaware they were being filmed.

Adam Schneider was arrested without incident on Friday afternoon and taken to the Clark County Jail.

The investigation is continuing.
