Wanda Mae (Zink) Davis passed away on September 21, 2024 at the Bee Hive Home in Scottsburg, Indiana.
She was 99 years old. Born February 4, 1925 in Salem, to Hazel Grubb Zink and Merle Zink, Wanda was the oldest child of three, with two younger brothers, Lanny Zink of Salem, In and Charles Irvin Zink of Columbus, Indiana.
Wanda went on to graduate from Salem High School in 1943, where she loved attending home economics classes and spending time with friends. Wanda then married her lifelong sweetheart, Robert L. “Bob” Davis on December 13, 1943 and together they farmed for many years just outside of Salem. Wanda was also employed at BF Goodrich prior to her retirement.
During their 59-year marriage, Wanda and Bob had four children, Danny Wayne (Karen) Davis of Salem, Tony Davis of Salem, IN, David (Eileen) Davis of Sellersburg, IN, and Marla Sue (Rodney) Mills of Salem, IN. Their children blessed them with 12 grandchildren: Ondra (Gary) Crockett of Clarksville,IN, Shanda (Mark) Messmer of Jasonville, IN, Daniel Davis of Louisville, KY, Scott (Melody) McDill of Scottsburg, IN, Drew (Brook) McDill of Scottsburg, IN, Jakelin Davis of Salem, IN, Cainen Davis of Salem, IN, Andre (Michael) Staley of San Antonio, TX, Dillon (Sierra) Davis of Charlestown, IN, Dawson Davis of Sellersburg, IN, Lynndi (Michael) Lockenour of Charlestown, IN, and Kelsey Lockenour of Salem, IN. As the years went on their grandchildren also welcomed 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren into Wanda’s life. Wanda leaves behind her brother: Charles Irvin Zink of Columbus, many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well.
Wanda was a longtime member of the Salem Church of Christ, participated in many events with the Salem Senior Center, and belonged to several local card playing groups. During retirement her social calendar was always full as she greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, and working in her garden.
Everyone who knew her will her bright smile, contagious laughter, and positive view of life.
Family was of utmost importance to Wanda, so she created many opportunities throughout the year for everyone to join together at her home in celebrations of many holidays, birthdays, and special occasions.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Lanny Zink, her son, Danny Wayne Davis, her daughter, Marla Mills, and her granddaughter, Kelsey Lockenour.
Services will be held Thursday at 1PM at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem, IN. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8PM and Thursday from 11AM-time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Bee Hive Home in Scottsburg or The Salem Senior Center.
Nathan J. Worley Jr., age 64, of Campbellsburg, passed away Saturday, September 21 at his home.
Nathan was born January 25, 1960, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, the son of Nathan Worley Sr. and Evon Smith. He was a retired ironworker for Bamburg Steel. He was an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Doris Dotson Grant, a brother: Mark Worley and his parents.
He is survived by four daughters: Maranita Wallace of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Lee Ann McAdams of Florida, Jessica McAdams of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Hope Worley of Salem, 6 step-sons: Donnie Wallace of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Anthony Wallace of Oak Grove, Louisiana, Anthony Lykins of Salem, Jay Lykins of Salem, Keith Lykins of Salem, and BJ Wallace of Oak Grove, Louisiana, a step daughter: Tina Shaw of Salem, two brothers: David Worley and Estes Worley both of West Monroe, Louisiana, two sisters: Lynn Harris and Rebecca Wheeler both of West Monroe, Louisiana, 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Cremation was chosen.

Early this morning, September 23, 2024, Trooper Connor Giesler was patrolling the Dubois County area near Ferdinand when he received information that Alejandro Angulo Ramos was wanted for homicide out of Ohio and was believed to be driving a beige 2004 Toyota Corolla on Interstate 64.
Arrested and Charged was Alejandro Angulo Ramos, 22, Columbus, OH.
(Murder) – Ohio
The Indiana State Police and Dubois County Sheriff’s Office searched for the vehicle. At approximately, 6:30 am, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle at a gas station in Ferdinand.
Trooper Giesler arrived shortly after, and officers approached the vehicle.
As officers were standing by the vehicle, a male matching the description of Angulo Ramos, exited an outside restroom.
Officers made contact with the male and confirmed that the male was Angulo Ramos.
Angulo Ramos was arrested without incident and transported to the Dubois County Jail where he will await extradition back to Ohio.
Any further inquiries into the incident that happened in Alabama should be directed to the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office at 1-614-525-3555.

The Indiana State Police is investigating the September 15 death of an inmate who was arrested earlier this month on drug-related charges.
61-year-old Stephen Cole was arrested and jailed on Sept. 4 for meth possession and other drug-related charges.
ISP was contacted and requested to investigate by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department on Sept 16.
Detective Baker is lead.
According to ISP Public Information Officer Carey Huls, the open and active investigation shows Cole slipped and fell while getting out of the shower at the jail on Sept. 12.
According to Huls, Cole was checked by jail staff, but when they went to recheck on his vitals after he was back in his cell.
“He was unresponsive in his bed and was rushed to the hospital in Salem and then later transferred from St. Vincent in Salem to Norton Hospital in Louisville where he died on Sept. 15,” Huls wrote in an email.
Huls said police are still awaiting autopsy results.
No foul play suspected at this time, according to Huls.

Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. is scheduled to close the left lane of eastbound I-265 over CSX Railroad and Mt. Tabor Road located just west of the Grant Line Road interchange on or after Friday, September 20, to complete bridge rehabilitation work in Floyd County.
Motorists will be unable to utilize the I-265 westbound on-ramp from Grant Line Road while this work is in progress. Work is expected to take up to three days, weather permitting. The official detour for the ramp closure follows eastbound I-265 to Charlestown Road.
This work is part of a $22.9 million contract awarded to E&B Paving in October 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews plan to close State Road 7 at Hanging Rock Hill on or after Tuesday, September 24, to perform ditch cleaning maintenance work in Jefferson County.
The closure will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and will take up to one day, weather permitting. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews plan to conduct temporary overnight right lane closures on northbound and southbound I-65 beginning on or after Monday, September 16, to complete patching work between Seymour and Scottsburg.
Crews will begin work in the right lane of southbound I-65 at mile marker 47 near Seymour and will continue to move south to mile marker 30. Crews will then begin work in the right lane of northbound I-65 at mile marker 30 and complete work at mile marker 47 near Seymour. Work is expected to take up to four nights, weather permitting. Crews plan to work from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night.

The closure will take place between West Vernal Pike and South Garrison Chaple Road just west of Bloomington and is expected to be complete by late November, weather permitting. Crews will begin to place signage in the area prior to the start of construction. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows S.R. 43 to S.R. 46 to I-69 to S.R. 48.
This project is part of a $3.2 million contract awarded to Ragle, Inc. in July 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Lutgring Brothers, Inc. is scheduled to close State Road 62 between Breckinridge Road and New Middletown Road on or after Thursday, September 19, to complete a culvert replacement project in Harrison County.
The closure will take place between Corydon and Lanesville and is expected to be complete by mid- November, weather permitting. Crews will begin to place signage in the area prior to the start of construction. Motorists should use the official detour which follows I-64.
