Anita Sue (Barrett) Dearborn, 69, of Salem
Anita Sue (Barrett) Dearborn, 69, of Salem, Indiana died on April 18, 2025 at St. Vincent Hospital in Salem, Indiana. Anita was born on March 31, 1956 in Huntingburg, Indiana to the late Homer and Beulah B. (Waddle) Barrett.
Anita was a former machine operator for Tecumseh Products Company in Salem, Indiana. She was a member of the Salem Wesleyan Church and enjoyed walking, traveling, and spending time with her family and most of all, her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Dorothy Schuley, Betty Weathers, Norma Jo Barrett, William Barrett, Delbert Barrett, Charlotte Blunck, Mary Meredith, Marie Barrett, and Freida Williams.
She is survived by her son, Homer L. Dearborn (Crystal) of Pekin, Indiana; daughters, Elvina Hill (Douglas) of Rockholds, Kentucky and Beulah Harris (Jason) of Salem, Indiana; sister, Venita Lou Hill of Salem, Indiana; grandchildren, Christian Hill, Cameron Levi Dearborn, Bradley Kurtis Sizemore, Landon Cole Dearborn, Jadon Hill, Tara Hill, Devin and Austin Moore; and great-grandchildren, Maddix Hill, Kadon Hill, and Axel Rayven Dearborn.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem, Indiana.
Visitation will be on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at 1:00 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Pastor Stephen Caniff will officiate the service.
Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, Indiana is entrusted with the arrangements.
Tennessee Man Arrested for OVWI and Resisting Law Enforcement
Saturday morning , a vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of Ulysses M. Patterson, 42, Johnson City, TN. He was incarcerated in Perry County to face preliminary charges for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Motor Vehicle (Level 6 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (A Misdemeanor), Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated Refusal (A Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (B Misdemeanor) and Operating a Vehicle W/O Ever Receiving a License (C Misdemeanor).
Saturday at approximately 11:30 a.m., Indiana State Police Trooper Jon Villanueva initiated a traffic stop on a 2004 Cadillac passenger car on I-64 near Bristow for speeding.
The driver of the Cadillac, later identified as Ulysses Patterson , allegedly did not stop and led the trooper on a vehicle pursuit.

The chase continued south on State Road 37 and then west on State Road 62. The pursuit lasted approximately 10 minutes until the vehicle pulled into a driveway.
When other officers arrived, they attempted to place handcuffs on Patterson, but he still refused commands.
Patterson had to be forcefully restrained. While speaking to Patterson, he showed visible signs of being impaired. Patterson was arrested and transported to the Perry County jail without further incident.
Trooper Villanueva was assisted by Master Trooper Darryl Terryl, Perry County Sheriff’s Office, and Ohio Valley Towing.
All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
Road closure planned for State Road 158 in Lawrence County
The Indiana Department of Transportation announces a road closure for State Road 158 in Lawrence County.
Beginning on or around Monday, April 21, crews will close State Road 158 in Lawrence County near Silverville. This closure will occur near Graded Road, over the Silverville Branch of Indian Creek.
This road closure is for a bridge replacement project. Work is expected to last through the end of July, depending on the weather.
Austin Man Arrested for Child Battery
On April 4, 2025, Indiana State Police Trooper Kyle Taylor responded to a report of possible battery to a 4-year-old child. The incident allegedly occurred on April 3, 2025, in Scott County. Trooper Taylor requested assistance from an ISP detective.
