Three Arrested After Drug Tip in Scottsburg

On April 22, 2019, in the evening hours, deputies received drug tip information that led them to a residence in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Deputy Joe Baker, Deputy Johnney Coomer, Deputy Darin Marshall, Deputy Phil Thomas, with the assistance of Indiana State Police arrived at the residence located on Woodland Drive in Scottsburg to witness drug activity occurring in plain view.

Deputies announced their presence and one individual fled the residence, while two others were detained. An investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of Adam Richey, 28, of Scottsburg.

Richey was charged with DEALING SCHEDULE I, II, III CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF SYRINGE, and VISITING A COMMON NUISANCE.

A female inside the residence was identified as Taressa Caudill, 28, of Scottsburg, she was arrested and charged with POSSESSION SCHEDULE I, II, III, OR IV CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF SYRINGE, and MAINTAINING A COMMON NUISANCE.

The individual that fled the residence was apprehended and identified as Christopher Couch, 39, Scottsburg. Couch was arrested and charged with POSSESSION SCHEDULE I, II, III, OR IV CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF SYRINGE, and MAINTAINING A COMMON NUISANCE.

NASCAR HALL OF FAMER DALE JARRETT TO JOIN MRN FOR 50TH TALLADEGA SPRING BROADCAST

Motor Racing Network will add another NASCAR Hall of Famer to its growing list of members throughout its 50 years for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series “GEICO 500” at Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday.  

2014 inductee Dale Jarrett will handle the role of lead analyst in the MRN booth as the network broadcasts its 50th straight spring race at the 2.66-mile facility.  It is the same role his father, and fellow Hall of Famer, Ned Jarrett held for many years at the network.

“I’m very excited MRN has given me the opportunity at Talladega to do something in NASCAR I’ve never done,” said Jarrett. “It’s always an exciting race, and to work my first radio broadcast at the track I scored my last victory is very special.”

The win Jarrett mentions was in October, 2005.  After starting on the front row with his Yates Racing teammate Elliott Sadler, Jarrett took care of his UPS Ford all day long and made his move to the front when it mattered.  He led just two laps en route to the win, holding off Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth.

Jarrett won’t be the only guest analyst this weekend with Hall of Fame lineage. Ty Dillon, grandson of NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Richard Childress will join the booth as analyst for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series “MoneyLion 300”.

NASHVILLE – Back for a third straight year, CMA Fest has revealed the lineup for the popular nightly concerts at the Firestone Country Roads Stage at Ascend Amphitheater Thursday, June 6 through Saturday, June 8, with performances starting at 6:30 PM/CT each evening. 

Tickets are required for entry, with three-day reserved tickets selling for $66, single-day reserved for $25 each night and single-day lawn selling for $10 per night, plus taxes and fees. Fan presale begins Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 AM/CT and closes Thursday, April 18 at 5:00 PM/CT, with public on-sale opening Friday, April 19 at 10:00 AM/CT. Tickets can be purchased at CMAfest.com or Ticketmaster.com.   

Firestone Country Roads Stage at Ascend Amphitheater Presented by BBR Music Group kicks off the festivities Thursday night. Headliner Chase Rice will be joined by Jimmie Allen, Blanco Brown, Adam Craig, Lindsay Ell, Tyler Farr, King Calaway, LOCASH and Runaway June.

Brett Young will headline Firestone Country Roads Stage at Ascend Amphitheater on Friday night. Joining Young will be Bailey Bryan, Jordan Davis, Adam Hambrick, Caylee Hammack, Jillian Jacqueline and Mitchell Tenpenny.

Closing out Saturday night, fans will enjoy Firestone Country Roads Stage at Ascend Amphitheater Presented by Warner Music Nashville. Hunter Hayes and Cody Johnson will co-headline the evening, joined by Ingrid Andress, Tucker Beathard and Ashley McBryde.

Kentucky Driver Arrested after Colliding into Trooper’s Patrol Car during Traffic Stop

This morning at approximately 10:37, Master Trooper Ken Miller and Senior Trooper Brenda Tubbs were conducting a traffic stop on I-64 eastbound near the 37 mile-marker when the driver of an eastbound Dodge van failed to move over as required by law and sideswiped one of the patrol cars. The patrol car that was struck was unoccupied at the time of the crash. Both troopers were uninjured.

After the crash occurred the driver of the van pulled off onto the emergency shoulder approximately 1//2 mile east of the crash site, exited the vehicle, walked around and then re-entered the vehicle and drove eastbound on I-64. Senior Trooper Tubbs immediately started eastbound on I-64 and noticed the vehicle had exited the interstate and was turning south on SR 61. Tubbs drove south on SR 61 approximately ¼ mile and found the driver had pulled off of the highway on the east side behind trees and brush. The driver was identified as Eduardo Stevenson Gari, 29, of Louisville, KY. Stevenson Gari was arrested for leaving the scene of a crash and taken to the Warrick County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.

2019 Chip and Seal Operations Scheduled To Begin in April

Chip and SealThe Indiana Department of Transportation will kick off its 2019 chip and seal operations at the beginning of next week in Greene County.

Each year, INDOT evaluates our roadway conditions and creates a list of roads for our chip and seal program. Candidate roads are identified as roads in good to fair condition that are scheduled for rehabilitation in the future. During the inspection of these candidate roads, INDOT looks at overall pavement condition and the immediacy of future needs. Roads with less need for immediate maintenance are selected. Chip and seal operations, on average, extend the life of pavement by three to five years. For every $1 spent on chip and seal, taxpayers save $6-14 in future road rehabilitation and construction costs.

How Long Does it Last?

Typically work to chip and seal in one location will last for about four days depending upon weather conditions and will be done under full road closures to prevent damage to both vehicles and the roadway. This also increases the quality of the finished roadway. After chip and seal operations are complete, any loose aggregate will be swept away from the newly resurfaced road. Chip and seal operations district wide last between six and eight weeks.

When Does 2019 Chip Sealing Start?

Depending upon weather conditions, INDOT crews will begin chip and seal operations April 29 in two locations in Greene County. The first operation will be on State Road 57 in Newberry. Work will be performed between County Road 500 South and Baseline Road near Switz City. Work, again, is done under full closure. The official detour route uses S.R. 67 and U.S. 231.

Immediately following work on S.R. 57, crews will move to the Bloomfield area to perform work on S.R. 157 between C.R. 140 N just north of Bloomfield to C.R. 850 N in Worthington. The official detour will use S.R 54 and U.S. 231. Work on both of these roads is expected to be completed by May 10, depending upon weather conditions. Motorists should remember to slow down, increase following distance, obey all work zone signs and flaggers, and plan for extra time to get to your destination. Considerations have been given to school, emergency and local traffic, who will have access up to the point of closure with minimal disruptions caused by the closure. All other traffic will need to use the official detours.

Chip and seal start dates may vary depending upon weather conditions. INDOT may also have to re-evaluate scheduling depending upon operational need and equipment availability. As of this writing, the following is the most up-to-date order of locations in which work will be performed:

  • S.R. 43 from S.R. 54 to C.R. 420 N. In Solsberry area (May)
  • S.R. 58 from S.R. 57 to  S.R. 67 In Elnora area (May)
  • S.R. 164 From just east of S.R. 545 to S.R. 145 In Jasper area (June)
  • S.R. 145 from Bristow to S.R. 62 (June)
  • S.R. 65 From S.R. 66 to S.R. 68 in Cynthiana area (June)
  • S.R. 65 from S.R. 68 to Owensville south town limits (June)

Ashley Brooke Harris, 34, of Louisville, Kentucky died on April 19, 2019 at her residence.  She was born on July 29, 1984 in Franklin, Indiana to Michael L. and Michele T. (Sparrow) Harris- they survive.
 
She was an event coordinator for the Omni Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky.
 
She was preceded in death by her grandparents:  Robert and Patty Sparrow and Robert James Harris.
 
She is survived by her parents:  Michael L. and Michele T. Harris of Helena, Montana; her best friend, Tiffany Ross of Louisville, Ky; her brother, Joshua R. Harris (April) of Leavenworth, IN; her aunt, Tina (Aunt DoDo) Parker of Lake Placid, Florida; uncles:  Eric Ferrell, Mike, David, and Jeff Sparrow; her niece and nephew, Austin and Addison Harris; grandmother:  Mary Alexander of Franklin, IN; and her special family:  Mike and Roberta Vaught of Milltown, IN.
 
A memorial service will be on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Hillview Christian Church.  Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm.

Railroad crossing repair to close S.R. 335 near Crandall in Harrison County

Norfolk Southern Railroad will close S.R. 335 near Crandall in Harrison County for crossing repair work on Wednesday, April 24, from approximately 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., weather depending.

The detour for this closure is S.R. 135 to S.R. 64, through New Salisbury.

 

New ‘Younger Face’ of the Delphi Murder Suspect

Early this afternoon Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter spoke with members of the Delphi community and interested media to share the change in direction of the Delphi double murder investigation of Abigail (Abby) Williams and Liberty (Libby) German. 

This investigation has been ongoing since the discovery of the girls bodies, the early afternoon of February 14, 2017, in a wooded area near the Delphi Historic Trail, about a half mile upstream from the high bridge.

Today, a new sketch of the suspect, appearing to be in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties and believed responsible for the murders of the girls, was shared with the Delphi community and media.

As the investigation has progressed, information has been continuously reviewed and examined and this sketch more accurately depicts the face of the suspect from the video recorded on Liberty German’s cell phone while she and Abigail were on the High Bridge.

Also shared with the Delphi community was more of the audio, as well as previously unreleased video from Libby’s phone.  

As Superintendent Carter said today, “We have a witness. You made mistakes. We are coming for you and there’s no place for a heartless coward like you to hide that gets his thrill from killing little girls.”

This investigation has been a priority of the Multi-Agency Task Force since the first day of the investigation and will continue to be a priority for all participating law enforcement agencies.
