Wednesday evening proved to be busy for two Sellersburg Troopers who had suspects flee on foot within minutes of each other during their investigations.

Arrested were

Dustin Lee Trowbridge, 26, Corydon, Indiana: Resisting Law Enforcement – A Misdemeanor, Warrant – Failure to Return to Lawful Detention.   Remanded into the Harrison County Jail.

Ronlald (aka Ronald) James Walker, 26, Louisville, Kentucky:  False Informing – Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement – A Misdemeanor, Possession of Paraphernalia – A Misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana – B Misdemeanor, Trafficking with an Inmate – Level 5 Felony.  Remanded into the Clark County Jail.

At approximately 11:25 p.m., Trooper Nathan Newton responded to an “Attempt to Locate” dispatch by Harrison County authorities for Dustin Lee Trowbridge of Corydon, who was wanted for failure to return to lawful detention, and who had been witnessed walking in the area of Corydon-Ramsey Road near Corydon.

Trooper Newton was unable to locate Trowbridge in that location but continued the investigation by searching in the area of the subject’s mother’s house.

He soon spotted Trowbridge who then began running after Trooper Newton identified himself as a police officer.

The chase continued across multiple fences and into a wooded area where Trooper Newton, after repeated warnings, deployed his Taser and took Dustin Trowbridge into custody.

Trooper Newton was assisted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department.

Around 11:30 p.m. that same night, Trooper Morgenn Evans stopped a motorcycle near Court Avenue in downtown Jeffersonville for failing to stop at a stop sign and for failing to signal a turn.

During the roadside investigation, the driver gave a false name before fleeing on foot.  Trooper Evans gave pursuit, and an attempt to use a Taser on the subject was unsuccessful.

The suspect was able to evade Trooper Evans for a short time but was later located hiding inside a nearby dumpster by an assisting Clark County Deputy.

Indiana Lawmakers Secure Extension of Crop Reporting Deadline to July 22

0

Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it will extend the crop acreage reporting deadline for states impacted by recent flooding and heavy moisture, including Indiana.

This announcement comes in response to a letter to USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue led by Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.), Senator Mike Braun (R-Ind.), and Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D, (R-IN-08), and also signed by Representative Pete Visclosky (D-IN-01), Jackie Walorski (R-IN-02), Susan W. Brooks (R-IN-05), André Carson (D-IN-07), Jim Banks (R-IN-03), James Baird (R-IN-04), and Greg Pence (R-IN-06).

“The Indiana delegation remains united in strengthening our rural communities, which benefit our entire state. Indiana is a national leader in corn and soybean production, and we are glad the USDA heard our call for action to help mitigate the immediate and long-term effects of planting hardship in Indiana,” said the signers of the letter.

In addition to extending the crop acreage reporting deadline to July 22 for agriculture states impacted by recent flooding and heavy moisture, the USDA also previously announced updates to the haying and grazing date for producers who have planted cover crops on prevented plant acres; special sign-ups through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program for assistance to plant cover crops; and a deadline extension to report prevented plant acres in certain places.
