  • Wednesday, May 29 at Posey County Fairgrounds in New Harmony, IN
  • Saturday, June 1 at Patoka Regional Water District Office in Dubois, IN

Bicknell Police Chief Arrested for Battery and Official Misconduct

Tuesday morning, April 23, Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation after being contacted by the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office regarding an incident that occurred at their office involving Bicknell Police Chief Terry Stremming.

Arrested and Charged:

Stremming, 47, Bicknell, IN

  1. Official Misconduct, Level 6 Felony
  2. Battery, Level 6 Felony

On Monday, April 22, a Bicknell police officer went to the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office and turned over a laptop that possibly contained evidence of officer misconduct on another Bicknell police officer.

Tuesday morning, April 23, at approximately 8:30, Stremming arrived at the prosecutor’s office and allegedly demanded the laptop back into his possession and attempted to remove it from a desk.

Rose Archer, 51, an investigator from the prosecutor’s office, put her hands on the laptop to prevent Stremming from taking it.

The NRA Foundation Awards $1,000 to Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry

0

The NRA Foundation recently awarded Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry a grant to be used to serve Indiana residents. These funds will help Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry pay processing fees for large game and livestock donations within Indiana.

The processed meat will then be given to area hunger-relief agencies.

Founded in 2011, Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry asks area hunters and farmers to take their large game or livestock to a participating meat processor where the donation is processed, packaged and frozen at no cost (plus, farmers may write off the fair market value on their taxes).

Local hunger-relief agencies will be contacted for pick up and distribution of this nutritious protein back into the community.

We are very excited about our “Meat” the Need program, said Debra Treesh, Executive Director of Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry. & We’re pleased that the NRA Foundation is continually willing to make an investment in the community Lack of food does not only affect the homeless or unemployed.

The economy may be showing signs of improvement but many hardworking Hoosiers are still living paycheck to paycheck, regularly having to choose
between paying bills, obtaining medicine or buying groceries.

In these homes, an unexpected bill of any sort (like a major car repair or medical bill) can throw an already tight budget into a downward spiral. According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap, 31% of working Indiana residents who are food insecure do not qualify
for food-assistance programs. These residents have to turn to charitable food assistance networks such as food banks, pantries, hunger ministries, etc… And the hardest commodity for food banks to obtain? Protein, a nutrient that is part of every cell in your body and vital to brain/body development.

More than 300,000 Indiana children have no idea where their next meal is coming from…
“The grant provided by this store will pay to process about 750 pounds of donated large game and livestock, which will then be distributed to area hunger-relief agencies – providing almost 3,000 meals to residents in need within our communities,” said Treesh.

In the last seven years, Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry has helped to
distribute approximately 1.2 million pounds of meat to Indiana food banks, providing over 5 million meals to Hoosiers in need. “To date, we have 83 participating meat processors working within 85 counties in Indiana to aid us in our mission and to ensure residents in need are served,” shared Amber Zecca, Fund Development Director of Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry.

On average, the cost of this donated meat is about $1.30 per pound, which is less than $.30 per meal!

Established in 1990, The NRA Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that raises tax-deductible contributions in support of a wide range of firearm-related public interest activities of the National Rifle Association of America and other organizations that defend and foster the Second Amendment rights of
all law-abiding Americans.

These activities are designed to promote firearm and hunting safety, to enhance
marksmanship skills of those participating in the shootings sports, and to educate the general public about firearms in their historic, technological, and artistic context.  More information about The NRA Foundation can be found online at www.nrafoundation.org.

Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry is accepting donations to fund our “Meat” the Need program throughout Indiana and is continuously looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts to feed the hungry and reduce hunger issues throughout Indiana.

For more information on the Hoosiers Feeding the Hungry program, its services and to find participating meat processors in your area, or to find out how you can help, please visit www.HoosiersFeedingtheHungry.org.

NASCAR HALL OF FAMER DALE JARRETT TO JOIN MRN FOR 50TH TALLADEGA SPRING BROADCAST

0

Motor Racing Network will add another NASCAR Hall of Famer to its growing list of members throughout its 50 years for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series “GEICO 500” at Talladega Superspeedway this Sunday.

2014 inductee Dale Jarrett will handle the role of lead analyst in the MRN booth as the network broadcasts its 50th straight spring race at the 2.66-mile facility.  It is the same role his father, and fellow Hall of Famer, Ned Jarrett held for many years at the network.

“I’m very excited MRN has given me the opportunity at Talladega to do something in NASCAR I’ve never done,” said Jarrett. “It’s always an exciting race, and to work my first radio broadcast at the track I scored my last victory is very special.”

The win Jarrett mentions was in October, 2005.  After starting on the front row with his Yates Racing teammate Elliott Sadler, Jarrett took care of his UPS Ford all day long and made his move to the front when it mattered.  He led just two laps en route to the win, holding off Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth.

Jarrett won’t be the only guest analyst this weekend with Hall of Fame lineage. Ty Dillon, grandson of NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Richard Childress will join the booth as analyst for Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series “MoneyLion 300”.

NASCAR Hall of Fame Inductees who have worked for Motor Racing Network:

Drivers

–          Ned Jarrett (Class of 2011)

–          Rusty Wallace (Class of 2013)

–          Dale Jarrett (Class of 2014)

Squier-Hall Media Recipients

–          Ken Squier (Class of 2013)

–          Barney Hall (Class of 2013)

–          Chris Economaki (Class of 2014)

In addition to Ned and Dale, Glenn Jarrett was a veteran of the network before retiring this year, making all three Jarrett men part of the MRN alumni.  The broadcast starts at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 28th.
