David D. Crandall, 31, of Marengo
David D. Crandall, 31, of Marengo, Indiana, died on April 18, 2019 in Alabama. He was born on February 16, 1988 in Louisville, Kentucky to Mark D. and Patricia L. (Elmer) Crandall- they survive.
He was a cable technician.
He is survived by his parents: Mark and Patricia Crandall of Marengo, Indiana; a brother, James D. Crandall (Julia) of Marengo, Indiana; his niece and nephew, Haylea and Trenton Crandall.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dean and Phyllis Crandall and William and Pearl Elmer.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Marengo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Monday, April 22, 2019 and after 9:00 am until the time service on Tuesday, all at the funeral home.

John W. Nemeth, 72, of Milltown
John W. Nemeth, 72, of Milltown, Indiana, died on April 14, 2019 at his home. He was born on May 23, 1946 in Lansing, Michigan to Lillian (Mezaros) Nemeth and the late Rev. John Nemeth.
He was a former truck driver for Keller Manufacturing for 25 years and Haas for 3 years. He attended the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church in Corydon, Indiana. He was an Air Force Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela J. (Mercer) Nemeth of Milltown, IN; his mother, Lillian Nemeth of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, John W. Nemeth III of Corydon, IN; daughters, Shelly A. Johnson of Louisville, KY, Renae D. Mueller of Central, IN, and Kimberly R. Gilbert of Fayetteville, NC; a brother, David A. Nemeth of Corydon, IN; sisters, Nancy Rehmel of Plymouth, IN, Sharon Whited of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and Marie Lancaster of Jackson, Mississippi; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be on Friday, April 19, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Milltown Christian Church in Milltown, IN. Interment will follow in the Milltown Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, Indiana and on Friday, from 9:00 am until time of the service at 11:00 am at the church.
Pastor David Ledger will officiate the service.
Casket Bearers will be John Nemeth III, Jonathan Nemeth, Patrick Mercer, Jason Mercer, Seth Mercer, and Bobby Rehmel. Honorary Casket Bearers will be David Nemeth, Samuel Nemeth, Chris Johnson, Tyson Meuller, and Chris Gilbert.

Samuel E. Meriwether, 52, of English
Samuel E. Meriwether, 52, of English, Indiana, died April 16, 2019 at his home. He was born on December 22, 1966 in New Albany, Indiana to Alice K. (Crawford) Meriwether and the late Ralph Meriwether.
He was a member of the Marengo Pilgrim Holiness Church, Disabled American Veterans, and AMA Flight Club, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his mother, Alice K. Meriwether of English, Indiana; a brother, Mark E. Meriwether of Sellersburg, Indiana; sisters, Karen E. Meriwether of New Salisbury, Indiana and Ruth E. LaRue of Joelton, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Meriwether.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Marengo Pilgrim Holiness Church, 6347 Speed Road, Milltown, Indiana 47145.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 19, 2019 from 4-8 pm at the funeral home and on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at the church.
Interment will follow in the Mather’s Chapel Cemetery near English, Indiana.
Rev. Doug Cox will officiate the service.

Jean Holsapple, age 96, of Salem
Jean Holsapple, age 96, of Salem, passed away on April 16, 2019 at Meadow View Health and Rehab. Born on March 2, 1923 in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Homer Sullivan and Flora (Voyles) Sullivan.
Jean was retired from Fifer Eye Institute. She was a member of Salem First Baptist Church, and a charter member of Pekin Booster Homemaker Club.
Survivors include her son, Paul Holsapple of Salem; daughter, Vivian Holsapple of Florida; 2 brothers, Bob Sullivan of Pekin and Jack Sullivan of Salem; 3 sisters, JoAnn Ooley of Sellersburg, Deloris Neeley of Pekin, and Susan Saylor of Salem; 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, Merle Holsapple; son, Max Holsapple; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Viewing will be from 12-2 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. Jason Saylor will officiate.
Ripley County Sheriff’s Office investigating missing person
The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the disappearance of Charles James Morris, a 74 year old white male, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 162 pounds, gray hair, hazel eyes, driving a dark blue 2010 Jeep Liberty SUV with Indiana plate XGA395.
Charles is missing from Cross Plains, Indiana which is 87 miles southeast of Indianapolis and 52 miles west of Cincinnati. Charles was last seen on Thursday, April 11, 2019.

Indiana State Police Celebrate Public Safety Telecommunicator Week April 14 – 20, 2019
On behalf of all Public Safety organizations and First Responders, the Indiana State Policeexpress our combined thanks and appreciation to Governor Holcomb for declaring in Indiana the week of April 14 – 20, 2019 as “Public Safety Telecommunicator Week”
In 1991 Congress proclaimed the second full week in April to be National Public Safety Telecommunications Week to recognize the importance of those special individuals who coordinate the efforts of police, fire, and EMS workers. Governor Eric J. Holcomb has proclaimed the week of April 14-20, 2019 as Public Safety Telecommunications Week in Indiana. Indiana has recognized this week since 1999.
Telecommunications operators are the unsung heroes of public safety. They operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. These are the men and women who collect the initial information and pass it along to the first responders in the field. Often they are able to give immediate lifesaving directions to the caller during medical emergencies or can be the calming voice to reassure the victim of a violent crime that help is on the way.
All Indiana State Police Telecommunications Operators must pass a written test, a typing test, appear before an interview board, and go through a background investigation before being hired. Once employed they must endure several weeks of training and continuous in-service training throughout their careers to maintain certifications on the latest communications technology and procedures.
Telecommunications Operators working from Regional Dispatch Center III at the Bloomington State Police Post, are responsible for dispatching troopers working in 19 counties across central Indiana that include the Bloomington, Jasper and Evansville Posts.

Body From Ohio River Identified as Louisville 17-Year-Old
Following an autopsy on April 15th, the victim has been identified as a 17 year-old juvenile from Louisville, KY.
The victim was reported missing last month. No foul play is suspected.
The Louisville Fire Department recovered the body of an unidentified male shortly before 6:00 p.m., on April 12 near the New Albany Amphitheater on April 12.
Assisting agencies at the scene included the New Albany Fire Department, New Albany Police Department, Louisville Fire Department, Floyd County EMS, and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office.
Patricia Louise (Webber) Boggs, age 73, of Salem
Patricia Louise (Webber) Boggs, age 73, of Salem, passed away on April 14, 2019 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. Born on May 25, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Orville Webber and Elfleda Lela (Neel) Webber.
Patricia is survived by a daughter, Anna Fleenor; 2 sons, Greg Boggs and Johnny Boggs; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grand children.
Viewing will be from 11-1 PM Friday at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 PM at Russell Chapel Cemetery.
