The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to initiate pavement repairs along State Road 111 approaching the Horseshoe Casino on August 20.  Contracted crews will place asphalt patches on S.R. 111 between mile markers 16.5 and 16.9, and at mile marker 21.3.   

These pavement repairs will restore normal traffic flow north of the casino where embankment slides damaged the S.R. 111 roadway. 

Paul H. Rohe, Indiana’s contractor, is expected to be onsite for up to five days. 

Meanwhile, personnel from GeoStablization International, INDOT’s geohazard specialty contractor, have mobilized at a slide site at the casino.  Permanent mitigation measures are being taken along the Ohio River embankment just south of the boat.  Once completed, a second S.R. 111 site will be reinforced across from the parking garage.  This work is expected to continue into late October.

Earlier this week, seven people were arrested on Indiana State Police drug related cases in Scott County.

The first case started as a follow-up investigation that began two months ago when troopers opened a drug investigation against the occupants at the home located at 1349 South Prewitt Lane in Scottsburg. Yesterday morning, troopers visited the home and found five people at the home. Along with the people at the home, troopers also located Methamphetamine and Paraphernalia. 

The five people arrested at the home and charges:

Richard Hickman, 51, of Scottsburg, IN; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Barbie Lynn Hernandez, 42, of Scottsburg, IN; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Jason Morrow, 39, of Jeffersonville, IN; Visiting a Common Nuisance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Trafficking with an Inmate, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Law Enforcement.

Gregory L. Ritchey, 49, of Georgetown, IN; Visiting a Common Nuisance and three arrest warrants from Clark County, IN.

Krystal C. Hardin, 24, of Scottsburg, IN; Visiting a Common Nuisance.  

The other two arrested came from a case that began back in November of 2017, when two females were found parked in a rural Scott County graveyard by a trooper and were found to be in possession of Methamphetamine.

Arrest warrants were issued out of the Scott County Circuit Court for their arrest.

Lisa D. Cooley was arrested Thursday morning on the warrant by the Scottsburg City Police and Brandy Chennault was served her warrant in the Scott County Jail where she is serving time on an unrelated case.

All the arrested were lodged at the Scott County Jail awaiting their court appearances.

Thursday, August 10, the Indiana State Police was requested to conduct a death investigation after an inmate died while in custody at the Bartholomew County Jail.

The initial investigation by Indiana State Police Detectives determined that at approximately 4:30 pm yesterday, jail staff found Cathy A. Hull, age 61, Columbus, Indiana, unresponsive in a jail cell inside their facility.  Hull was given immediate medical attention and EMS was called to the scene.  Hull was unable to be revived and passed away while at the jail. 

At this time, no foul play is suspected.  Toxicology results are pending. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Saturday, August 11th.

Hull was incarcerated after being arrested on a probation violation warrant by the Columbus PoliceDepartment on Wednesday August 8th.

Cathy Hull’s family has been notified.   

The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to close Interstate 64’s westbound ramp to eastbound I-265—weather permitting—tomorrow night (AUGUST 7) at Exit 121 between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. while contracted crews remove barrels, barrier wall and temporary stripping used for traffic control at Captain Frank Road.  Detour signs are in place. 

Once completed, three lanes of traffic will be restored until Phase III operations for the $3.9 million bridge refurbishment project at four New Albany-area structures resumes.   

Patching, widening and deck overlay installation on westbound I-64 bridges over Captain Frank Road and Quarry Road will begin along the right side of the roadway in approximately two weeks.  At that time, lane closures will be imposed between mile markers 1222.5 and 120.0. 

Meanwhile, operations not calling for traffic restrictions will be completed along I-64 shoulder areas.  The bridge deck overlays on the left side of westbound I-64 have been completed.

This morning shortly after 7:30 am, a blue 2007 Honda, driven by Lisa B. Hodges, 36, from Owensboro, KY, was East on Interstate #64 when near the 98 Mile Marker, (closest town Corydon), the 2007 Honda left the roadway and went over the embankment on the South side of Interstate #64.

After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree with the passenger’s side of the car. 

It is unknown why the vehicle left the roadway.

The driver, Hodges, was pronounced dead at the scene. Indiana State Police Crash Reconstructionist investigated the scene.

The driver’s seat belt was in use.  

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and the Harrison County Coroner assisted in this investigation.

Seymour Police Department is investigating a Burglary that occurred early Saturday morning.
