An Alexandria man who was wanted on warrants was arrested last evening after a trooper driving through Middletown recognized the man as he stood in the driveway of a residence. 

Around 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening, Trooper Mark Hanna was driving through Middletown on Crestview Drive when he noticed a man standing in the driveway of a residence that looked like a man Hanna knew was wanted on warrants for Burglary and Theft out of Madison County.

Trooper Hanna stopped and activated his police car lights before getting out and walking up to the man.  Hanna was able to identify the man as Russell Ancil, age 61 of Alexandria, and that he was wanted on Felony warrants out of Madison County.

Ancil, who was taken into custody without incident, was also found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Russell Ancil was lodged in the Henry County Jail on the arrest warrants from Madison County and was also charged with Level 6 Felony Possession of Methamphetamine.

Yesterday at approximately 5:13 pm, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg responded to an overturned semi on the interstate ramp from I-265 WB to I-65 SB in Clark County.

The preliminary investigation revealed the semi-tractor and trailer loaded with two steel coils was traveling west down the ramp, when the loaded coils shifted causing the semi-tractor and trailer to overturn.

Roger L. Cole, 64, from Gainesville, GA was driving a 1999 International semi-tractor and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Clark County Corner’s Office.  

The Indiana State Police continue to investigate the officer involved shooting that occurred in Warsaw last night. The officer has been identified as Officer Daniel Clemens. 

Clemens has been a member of the Warsaw Police Department since December of 2017.  Clemens is currently on paid administrative leave per the policy of the Warsaw Police Department.  At the conclusion of the Indiana State Police investigation, all findings will be turned over to the Warsaw Police Department and the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office. 

Kyle Miller, age 31 of Warsaw, IN, has been named as the person shot in the arm following a struggle with  Clemens last night.  Miller has been preliminarily charged with Resisting Law Enforcement and was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail. 

This is an ongoing investigation. 

Preliminary investigation shows that around 7:26 p.m., the Warsaw Police Department was called to a house in the 1800 block of Michaels Street for an unwanted party.

This unwanted party is reported to have been unknown to the residents of the house. The suspect left prior to the police arriving and began to walk in traffic on Old Road 30, also known as Lake Street. 

The suspect then allegedly began to try to get into cars that were passing by and was then encountered by a Warsaw police officer.  During this encounter the suspect began to struggle with the officer, who attempted to use his Taser. 

The Taser purportedly had no effect on the suspect. 

As this encounter continued, the officer fired his weapon, hitting the suspect in the right arm. 

The suspect received non-life threatening injuries.  Once the scene was stabilized, officers rendered aid to the suspect prior to Lutheran EMS arriving. 

The officer was not injured.
