The Washington County SWAG (See What Ag Gives) Team is now accepting

nominations for the 2018 Ag Hall of Fame Award.

All are encouraged to nominate an outstanding farmer or agribusiness person for this prestigious award.

There are many deserving individuals, families, and businesses in Washington County.

The application can be found on the Purdue Extension – Washington County website at http://extension.purdue.edu/washington.

Open Sheep Show June 2

The Washington County Sheep Association and Washington County Fair
will be hosting an Open Sheep Show on Saturday, June 2 at the Washington
County Fairgrounds Livestock Pavilion.

There will be classes for Market Lambs, Breeding Ewes, Rams and
Showmanship.

Sheep may start arriving at 8:00 a.m.

Weigh-in will be from 8:30-10:00 a.m. The show will start at 12:30 p.m. with showmanship classes. Anyone needing rules and more information contact the Washington County Extension Office at 812-883- 4601 or go to their website at
https://extension.purdue.edu/washington.

The Sheep Association will be selling Bratwursts and Lamb burgers along
with chips and drinks beginning at 11 a.m. and continuing until 4 p.m. or the end
of the show.

Homemade cinnamon rolls and drinks will be available for breakfast.

The public is invited to come watch the show and enjoy a delicious lamb
meal.

Hiram “Carlo” Swanson, age 64, of Scottsburg, Indiana, passed away on May 10, 2018 at his residence. Born on May 22, 1953 in Harlan County Kentucky, he was the son of the late Hiram Lee Swanson & Leatha (Howard) Swanson.

Hiram was an Air Force Veteran. He was retired from Cummins Engine Company with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Salem Nazerene Church.

On February 26, 1972, he married Carol A. (Jackson) Swanson. She precedes him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Emily (Jason) Cockerill of Salem; 4 granddaughters, Aynslie, Brinley, Parker, & Stella Cockerill all of Salem.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 PM at the Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Brother Rick Main will officiate.
