Paul Edison Brown, 71, of Salem
Mr. Paul Edison Brown, 71, of Salem passed away Friday, February 9 at his home, after battling cancer.
Mr. Brown was born in New Albany, Indiana on May 7, 1946 the son of Raymond and Mable Saltsgaver Brown.
He married Anna Faith Miller on January 30, 2000 and passed away 10 days after their anniversary.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Brown, two sons: Eddie Brown of Hardinsburg and Jason Brown of Marengo, two step-sons: Michael Gibson and Charles Simpson both of Salem, one step-daughter: Michelle Winkler of Acton, Indiana, four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two sisters: Carolyn Sears of Clarksville and Freda Jones of Huntingburg, and one brother: Ralph Brown of English.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Naomi Bullerdick and Dorothy Shaffer and brother: Howard Brown.
Paul was a member of the carpenters union and worked for and retired from Smith Contractors. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran.
Paul loved his lord and his family. He enjoyed karaoke, working in the garden and was a wood craftsman in his spare time. Paul truly enjoyed his life.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00PM at Weathers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Big Spring Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11AM-time of service
Marvin E. Marshall, 90, Salem
Mr. Marvin E. Marshall age 90 of Salem passed away Friday, February 9 at his home.
Mr. Marshall was born April 2, 1927 in Pierce Township, Washington County the son of Ralph and Leota Gayle Chastain Marshall. He was retired from Naval Ordnance in Louisville. He was a member of Canton Christian Church and Salem Senior Center and Pekin Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife: Norma Lewellen Marshall. They were married December 17, 1949. He is also survived by a son: Brian Eugene Marshall (Donna) of Salem, two daughters: Cindy Lu Marshall (Allen Guenthner) of Salem and Carol Ann Marlman (Paul) of Salem, two sisters: Betty McCoskey of Washington State and Lois Bobo of Salem, 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter: Karen Sue Hardy, four sisters: Beulah Beams, Carolyn Pickett, Marilyn Coker and an infant, Rita, and his parents.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 17 at 4:00PM at Salem Senior Center. Visitation will be from 2PM until the time of service.
Sally Kay Gettelfinger, age 58
Sally Kay Gettelfinger, age 58, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at home with her family by her side. Sally was born September 5, 1959 in Louisville, KY.
She was the kind of person whose effervescent personality buoyed everyone she encountered. An irreplaceable wife, mother, homemaker, Sally additionally contributed her considerable energy to volunteering for the American Lung Association and to being an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church,
Bradford, IN.
Sally was a conservationist who loved the ocean and was never afraid of a new adventure.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard J. Gettelfinger, Jr.; son, Gregory J. Gettelfinger (Megan) of Clarksville, Indiana; daughter, Lora Kay Gettelfinger of Brooklyn, New York; Granddaughter, Grace Audrey Gettelfinger; parents, Charles and Nancy (Thompson) Sandifer of New Albany, Indiana (previously Louisville, Kentucky); sister, Shannon Speth (Rick) of Georgetown, Indiana; brothers, Scott Sandifer (Janet) of New Albany, Indiana and Andrew Sandifer (Carla) of
Georgetown, Indiana.
Her optimistic disposition was unstoppable and infectious. Her radiant smile and compassionate heart will be missed by many.
Visitation’s will be 2:00—8:00 PM Thursday, February 15 and 9—10:45 AM Friday, February 16, 2018 at St, Michael’s Catholic Church, in the town of Bradford, Indiana.
Funeral mass will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 16, 2018 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with entombment in St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date.

Troopers Locate and Arrest Escapee from Vanderburgh Facility
Earlier today Indiana State Police received information regarding the possible whereabouts of Darian Givens, 23, of Evansville.
Darian Givens, 23, of Evansville, is an escapee from a Vanderburgh County Work Release Facility. He was serving time for Dealing Methamphetamine. He failed to return to the facility on December 19, 2017.
Givens had been paroled from Branchville Correctional Facility.
At approximately 1:45 this afternoon, Indiana State Police located Givens hiding in a basement at a residence located at1421 Howard Street in Evansville. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail.
Troopers also arrested Colt Kissel, 27, of Evansville. He was present at the residence when Givens was located. Kissel had two active Vanderburgh County misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. Kissel was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he is currently being held on bond.

Four Free Football Camps at Eastern
There will be four free youth football camps at Eastern High School in February and March.
The camp will be the last two Sundays in February (the 18th and 25th) and the first two Sundays in March (the 4th and 11th) at the auxiliary gym in the high school.
Times will be:
K-2 – 3:30-4:30
3-5 – 4:30-5:30
Musketeer Head Football Coach Luke Dean said the camp will be open to ages Kindergarten through fifth grade.
“Join us to learn about the great game of football and have fun doing it!” he said.
Campers will develop football skills such as passing, catching, blocking, tackling, kicking and punting!
Players will need to wear tennis shoes, shorts and a t-shirt.
Nutrient Management Plan Workshops February 23
Washington County and NRCS with support from the Washington County SWCD will be hosting two Nutrient Management Plan Workshops for livestock producers on Friday, February 23, 2018 at the Washington County Government Building (806 Martinsburg Rd., Salem).
The morning session will be from 8:30-11:00 am with the afternoon session from 12:30-3:30 pm. Both sessions will cover: fertilizer application rules, example nutrient management plans and worktime to create your own nutrient management plan
that will put you into compliance with the New Fertilizer Rule that became effective in 2013.
The morning session will focus on non-poultry livestock species while the afternoon will focus on chickens and turkeys, but anyone may attend either session.
If you have the following, please bring them with you to the workshop: soil tests, manure analysis, crop yields, aerial photos, thumb/jump drive and a calculator.
