SR 403 Reopens At Silver Creek Bridge

The Indiana Department of Transportation will reopen State Road 403 at the Silver Creek bridge construction site located one mile east of U.S. Highway 31 between Sellersburg and Charlestown before noon tomorrow (OCT 26).  

The highway has been closed to traffic for the past several weeks while pavement approaches were put in place. 

E & B Paving of Clarksville, Indiana’s contractor, recently completed construction of a 3-span 275-foot-long bridge over Silver Creek as part of a $2,727,000 project. 

Michael A. Tegarden age 46 of Salem

Mr. Michael A. Tegarden age 46 of Salem passed away Tuesday October 24 at St. Vincent Salem Hospital.

He was born December 22, 1970 in Salem, Indiana the son of Lee and Anna R. Middleton Tegarden. He was a 1989 graduate of West Washington High School and a disabled employee of GKN.

He is survived by his wife Jessica Field Tegarden they were married November 11, 2011. His mother: Anna Tegarden of Campbellsburg, a son Gerald Michael Tegarden of Kentucky, brothers; Jeffrey Tegarden (Roena) of Pekin, Stephen Tegarden (Sharon) of Paola, Kansas, and his best friend Jeremy Hobson of Salem. 

He was preceded in death by his father:  Lee Tegarden.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00AM at Weathers Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Gorman officiating. 

Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6PM and Monday from 9AM-time of service.

Kid Rock announced today that he will be releasing his new album Sweet Southern Sugar on November 3 and will also hit the road on his “Greatest Show On Earth Tour 2018,” produced by Live Nation.

His second stop on the new tour will be at the at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville on Saturday, January 20, 2018.

Fans of the rocker can expect the same high-energy experience, but with brand new tracks from his latest album.

Madison Woman Arrested for Theft from Pharmacy

On October 17, 2017, a Madison, Indiana woman was arrested on numerous charges related to the theft of medication from a Madison pharmacy where she was an employee.

Kimberly Herrell-Stone, 37, Madison, was charged with Theft (level 6 felony), Possession of a Legend Drug (level 6 felony), Possession of Controlled Substance (level 6 felony), Dealing a Controlled Substance (class A misdemeanor), and three additional charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (class A misdemeanor).

The investigation by Detective Brent Miller began in April of this year when the Indiana State Police was contacted by the Madison Walgreen’s Store about a pharmacy employee stealing medications while she was working there as a pharmacy technician.  

The investigation revealed that she stole numerous medications from the pharmacy between January and April of 2017.

Walgreen’s notified the Indiana State Police after their Asset Protection Division had discovered that numerous types of medications were missing from the pharmacy.  It was determined that the thefts occurred on days when Herrell-Stone was working in the pharmacy.  

She was also found to be in possession of some of the stolen controlled substances.  At the conclusion of the investigation, the case was turned over to the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

On October 16, 2017, a warrant was issued for Herrell-Stone out of the Jefferson County Superior Court.  

On October 17, 2017, Herrell-Stone turned herself in to the Jefferson County Jail where she was incarcerated pending her initial court appearance.

Carlie A. Bedford age 83 of Pekin

Mrs. Carlie A. Bedford age 83 of Pekin passed away Tuesday, October 24 at Baptist Health Floyd.

Mrs. Bedford was born May 26, 1934 in Honaker, Kentucky the daughter of Lilburn and Fay Hatfield Hall.  She was a retired waitress and a member of Salem Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband:  Vern Bedford in 1997, one brother, six sisters and her parents. 

She is survived by four sons:  Don Young (Ehmma) of South Carolina, Paul Young (Ronda) of Salem, Kenneth Young and Ralph Young (Cherri) both of Pekin, a daughter:  Debra Davidson (Milford) of Salem, a brother:  Lilburn Hall Jr. of Greenwood, Indiana, two sisters:  Norma Jean Smith and Sandra Anderson both of Pekin, 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10:00AM at Olive Branch Cemetery.
