On Tuesday September 12, 2017 at 6:21PM the Sheriff’s Department received a report of an injury accident at 11379 E US 50.
According to Sheriff’s Reserve Deputy Charlie Murphy’s report, the driver of a
2015 Toyota minivan, Melvin T. Noah, 75 of Versailles was driving westbound on
US 50 with his cruise control activated.
Noah told Murphy that a truck he was following began to slow down. Noah stated he applied his brakes but the cruise control would not shut off.
Mr. Noah then swerved left to avoid hitting the truck in front of him. Noah’s 2015 Toyota then left the south side ofthe roadway and traveled 168 feet to the initial impact with the embankment.
Noah’s vehicle then traveled 128 more feet from the embankment to a building
owned by Trimpe Trucking, and leased by Wischmeier Trucking.
A witness who was traveling in front of Noah stated he watched the Toyota in his
rear view mirror as it left the roadway and went up into the yard, and eventually
struck the building.
The Toyota van struck a post on the building and a semi truck parked
inside the building. The impact pushed the semi tractor into another semi
tractor that was parked next to it.
All of the front and side air bags were deployed on the Toyota and three passengers in Noah’s vehicle were taken to Schneck Medical Center for treatment. Tersita Noah complained of chest pain, and Janet Harriett complained of head, face, and back pain. Carol Noah was a rear passenger and didn’t complain of pain, however she was taken for evaluation. Melvin Noah was not injured.
Murphy was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Reserve Deputies Scott Davis and Brad
Barker, along with Seymour Police officers Ryan Huddleston, Devin Cornwell, and
Ben Miller, Jackson County EMS, Seymour Fire Department, and Indiana State
Police.
Senator discussed his proposal to address the outsourcing of American jobs during tax reform discussion with President at the White House
U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly (D-IN) released the following statement after having dinner with President Trump along with other Republican and Democrat Senators last night.

Donnelly said, “I had another good conversation with President Trump about my proposal to address the outsourcing of American jobs. I am pleased he remains supportive of my proposal, and I believe that tax reform should include measures to support companies that invest in our workers and penalize companies that ship American jobs to foreign countries. I am hopeful we can work together to encourage domestic investments that benefit American workers.”
Donnelly introduced the End Outsourcing Act in January, and his legislation would support companies that invest in American workers and penalize corporations that outsource jobs.
In February, in a meeting at the White House, Donnelly discussed the End Outsourcing Act with President Trump and the President expressed his support for the proposal.
In May, at a Senate Banking Committee hearing, Donnelly asked Treasury Secretary Mnuchin about stopping outsourcing, and pushed for the President’s support for policies to protect American workers.
Donnelly met with Treasury Secretary Mnuchin in June to discuss the End Outsourcing Act.
This afternoon, troopers from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg arrested Paul Edward Raake, 65, of West Bradford Road North East in Palmyra.
He was the former assistant principal of Scribner Middle School in New Albany and had been accused of hiding a camera in the boys locker room.
He was arrested on an arrest warrant for Voyeurism, a Level 6 Felony.
The arrest came after an investigation by an Indiana State Police Detective that specializes in Cyber Crimes that began back in December of last year. The investigation was initiated at the request of the New Albany City Police Department.
During the investigation, which was completed and given to the Floyd County Prosecutor’s Office in mid-August, detectives learned that Paul Edward Raake, a former employee of the Nathaniel Scribner Middle School, allegedly had placed a hidden camera in the junior high school boy’s locker room located at Scribner Middle School in New Albany.
Indiana State Police Detectives with cooperation from the New Albany/Floyd County School System were given three computers in which Paul Edward Raake had access to while employed at the Nathaniel Scribner Middle School.
During the examination of the computers, photographs were located on one of the computers which were of concern. One of the photographs appeared to depict a male school student who was in a state of either dressing or undressing inside of a locker room.
It is unknown how long the camera was hidden inside of the locker room before it was located and reported by a student of the school in November of 2016.
Paul Edward Raake was arrested and incarcerated at the Floyd County Jail awaiting his first court appearance.
On Saturday, September 9th, 2017, two Scottsburg residents were arrested after marijuana and methamphetamine were located during a traffic stop on US 31 near the Jackson-Scott County line.

The driver of the vehicle, Ballard and passenger Williamswere both arrested on charges of Dealing Methamphetamine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Deaton conducted a search of the vehicle due to the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
During a search of the vehicle, Trp. Deaton located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and approximately 70 grams of methamphetamine.

Ballard and Williams were both transported to the Jackson County Jail where they were remanded to the custody of the Jackson County Jail staff. Both were held pending their initial court appearances in the Jackson County Circuit Court.
Trp. Deaton was assisted by officers with the Crothersville Police Department
