Jackson County Man Ran Over By Tractor; Flown to Hospital

0

A 59-year-old Jackson County man was ran over by his John Deere tractor this morning and flown to Methodist Hospital.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a farm accident this morning at 9:13a at 4400 South of County Road 400 East in Grassy Fork Township.

Officer Adam Nicholson was the first to arrive at the scene and found Kevin A. Hackman had been ran over by his tractor.

Police learned that the accident occurred when Hackman attempted to start the tractor while standing on the ground. The tractor took off upon starting.

A friend of Hackman’s, Brian Elliott, told police he found Hackman in the yard, who was complaining of leg and chest pain.

Elliott told police the tractor was still running when he arrived, and ran into the residence.

Elliott shut the tractor down and then attended to Hackman until emergency personnel arrived.

Jackson County Officer Rob Henley, and Jackson County EMS arrived and began providing medical treatment to Hackman.

Hackman was transported to the helicopter pad outside Schneck Medical Center and airlifted to Indianapolis.

Overnight Crash on I-65 Claimed the Life of a Greenwood Woman

0

I-65 Crash

Indiana State Troopers are investigating a single vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Greenwood woman.

June 24th, just after 11:00p.m., emergency crews were called to the scene of a roll-over crash on I-65 northbound near Southport Road. Callers were reporting a woman had been ejected from the vehicle and was critically injured. Upon arrival responders found 51 year old Traci McCracken unresponsive. Despite life saving efforts by the Indianapolis Fire Department and other emergency responders, McCracken was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigators have spoken to witnesses and are trying to determine what caused the 2006 Kia to run off the road.

Preliminary investigation determined the Kia left the roadway into the ditch along the right side of I-65 and rolled several times. At this point there are no other vehicles believed to be involved in this crash.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will work to determine a cause of death. As with all fatal crashes, a blood draw will be administered to determine if drugs or alcohol might have been a factor in this crash.

It appears Ms. McCracken was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash causing her to be ejected from the vehicle.
