Taxpayers may pay taxes at the Washington County Treasurer’s Office at any time on or before May 10, 2017 to avoid a penalty.

Senator Young to visit Crane, One Southern Indiana Tuesday
U.S. Senator Todd Young will make several stops in Southern Indiana Tuesday April 11, including visits to Martin, Clark and Harrison counties.

IU Cream and Crimson Game This Thursday
The 2017 Indiana Football Cream & Crimson Game will take place on Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m.
Former Super Bowl winning head coach and current Monday Night Football analyst Jon Gruden will be a special guest at this year’s game.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS ANNOUNCE 2017 PRESEASON SCHEDULE
The Indianapolis Colts today announced its 2017 preseason schedule. The dates and times for the preseason games have yet to be finalized.
The Colts will open the preseason with a Week 1 home contest against the Detroit Lions. Indianapolis and Detroit will compete for the 22nd overall time in the preseason dating back to 1964. The Colts hold a 13-7-1 preseason advantage over the Lions. In the last matchup, Indianapolis fell to Detroit by an 18-17 margin on August 29, 2009 at Ford Field.
In Week 2, Indianapolis will travel to Dallas to face the Cowboys. The contest will mark the 10th overall preseason meeting between the teams dating back to 1960, with the Colts holding a 5-4 advantage. The last time the teams faced each other in preseason play was on August 9, 2007 when Dallas defeated Indianapolis 23-10 at Texas Stadium.
The Colts will spend Week 3 on the road in Pittsburgh. Indianapolis is 11-10 overall in the preseason against the Steelers dating back to 1953. In the last matchup, the Colts were defeated by the Steelers 26-24 on August 19, 2012 at Heinz Field.
Indianapolis will close out the preseason at home against the Cincinnati Bengals. The two teams have met in the preseason every year since 2001 and traditionally in the finale. The Bengals lead the preseason series record at 16-9 dating back to 1985. The Colts won last year’s matchup in Cincinnati, 13-10.

140th SHS Alumni Banquet April 28
The 140th Salem High School Alumni Banquet will be Friday, April 28 at 7p at Brooks Memorial Gym.
Honor classes are 1967, 1992 and 2017.

This year’s 25 year speaker will be Tracy Stephenson Weaver and the 50 year speaker will be William (Bill) Fielding.
Weaver is a 1992 SHS graduate and a 1995 graduate of Franklin College where she earned a BA in Journalism, with an emphasis in public relations and advertising.
She currently works with Wonder Valley Christian Camp, trains facilitators for Living Free Community of Washington County and owns her own web design company.
She and her husband, Dave (who is a 1988 SHS grad) have three children – Ethan, Zane and Trinity. They are members of the South Liberty Church in Palmyra.
Bill Fielding graduated from SHS with the class of 1967. He attended Purdue University with a BS in Chemistry in 1971. He completed his MBA from DePaul University in Chicago and received his Transition to Teaching degree from Indiana Wesleyan.
Bill initially worked at Bata Shoe Company in Salem as a plant engineer before joining the R & D department at Michigan Chemical in St. Louis.
When his daughter Rebecca was born, he and his wife, Norma, took a five year sabbatical from their jobs in Chicago to join Norma’s family farming operation in Orange and Lawrence Counties.
Following their time on the farm, the family moved to West Lafayette where Bill joined the Great Lakes Chemical Corporation.
Throughout his career, Bill worked in research, international marketing and new product development. He has been part of and led a variety of teams and projects that resulted in 12 US patents and a variety of new products in the area of flame retardants.
Bill enjoys wood working, stained glass, photography, reading and travel in his spare time. He and Norma have one daughter, Rebecca, currently working as an Occupational Therapist in the Indianapolis area, but who is preparing to move to Nairobi, Kenya to work with special needs children.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered with Drunk Driver behind the Wheel
Last night at approximately 10:58 pm, Trooper Patrick Stinson made a traffic stop on Interstate #64 west bound at the 119 Mile Marker, (Georgetown). The traffic stop was for speeding 94 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.
During his traffic stop investigation trooper Stinson determined the driver, Matthew S. Binegar, 41, from Cliff Run Road in Bainbridge, OH, was driving under the influence of alcohol.
When trooper Stinson ran the driver and car information, he discovered the vehicle, a 2005 Nissan Sentra, was stolen from Sparta, KY earlier in the day.
Matthew S. Binegar was arrested and charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Reckless Driving and Driving while Intoxicated. He was incarcerated at the Floyd County Jail.
