The investigation began in 2016 when Indiana State Police Detectives received an anonymous tip that an IP Address located at 201 Country Club, Apt. 5A, Batesville, Indiana was used to view and share images of child pornography.

The investigation ultimately led to David W. Smith, age 24, Batesville, Indiana being arrested on charges of Possession of Child Pornography and Child Exploitation.

He was transported to the Ripley County Jail where he was incarcerated pending his initial appearance in court.

The Batesville Police Department assisted in the investigation.

11-Year-Old Martinsville Child Killed in Crash, Two Injured.

0

An 11-year-old Martinsville girl was killed in an accident in Bloomington on Saturday night, which also sent two to the hospital.

Just before 6:30 Saturday evening, a two-car crash occurred on State Road 37 and Bottom Road, approximately 4 miles north of Bloomington.

The crash investigation revealed that as a bicyclist attempted to cross SR37 at Bottom Road, the cyclist and the bicycle fell over into the left lane on the southbound side.

A southbound Chevrolet four door passenger vehicle driven by Alexis P. Davis, 21 of Greenwood, IN., was approaching the intersection.

Davis successfully avoided the cyclist by quickly swerving to the right. Tragically this evasive maneuver caused her to lose control and slide sideways through the median and into the northbound lanes of SR 37.

A northbound 2013 Chevrolet truck driven by John P. Wobser, 50 of Franklin, IN. was then unable to avoid collision with Davis’ Chevrolet passenger car.

The collision resulted in the death of Davis’ passenger, Kaitlyn Wells, 11 of Martinsville.

This crash is still under investigation.

The Indiana State Police wish to express its condolences to the family Kaitlyn Wells in the aftermath of this tragedy.

ASSISTING AGENCIES were the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Bloomington Police Department, Bloomington Township Fire, IU Health Ambulance, Monroe County Coroner’s Office, I-69 Partners, INDOT, Ken’s Westside Service.
