Jackson County Deputies Arrest Two On Drug Charges

0

In the early morning hours of January 19, 2017, Deputy Mark Holt stopped a 1999 GMC Jimmy after he saw it driving in the wrong lane of traffic and attempting to turn into several different yards off of County Road 600 South on the east side of Crothersville.

The driver, Victoria Autenrieb, and passengers Jeffrey D. Tatlock and Alicia M. Reeves, gave conflicting information about why they were in the area, and they appeared very nervous which made Holt suspicious.

Deputy Holt then saw some pills lying in the rear floor board of the vehicle behind the driver’s seat. Autenrieb told Deputy Holt she had recently taken some pain medication and that she did not have a prescription.

While taking inventory of the vehicle, Deputy Holt and Crothersville Police Officer J.L. McElfresh located several prescription tablets that were identified as Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Alprazdlam along with eight grams of Methamphetamine, Marijuana and some items used for measuring and distributing illegal drugs.

Victoria E. Autenrieb was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated/Drugs, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Violation of the Legend Drug Act. All are level 6 felonies

Jeffrey D. Tatlock faces charges of Dealing in Methamphetamine, a Level 3 Felony, Possession of

Methamphetamine, and Possession of Paraphernalia, both Level 6 Felonies.

Reeves was released at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

Naloxone Kit Saves 21-Year-Old From Drug Overdose

0
Quick thinking and the availability of a drug to prevent drug overdoses led police to save the life of a 20-year-old.

Crothersville Chief of Police Brent Turner spotted an older model Toyota truck parked on County Road 400 South, east of US Highway 31 in Vernon Township.

Turner stopped to check on the truck and found 21 year old Tamra Hamilton of rural Seymour inside the truck and unresponsive.

Crothersville Fire Department and Jackson County Ambulance were called to the scene. Jackson County Sheriff’s Detective Bob Lucas was close by and also responded.

Crothersville Firefighters were already providing oxygen to Hamilton when Lucas arrived.

Detective Lucas provided the Firefighters with Naloxone, who quickly administered it to Hamilton. Hamilton received a second dose of Naloxone when Jackson County EMS arrived.

Naloxone, sold under the brandname Narcan among others, is a medication used to block the effects of opioids, especially in overdose.

Naloxone may be combined within the same pill as an opioid to decrease the risk of misuse.

When given intravenously, it works within two minutes, and when injected into a muscle, it works within five minutes.

After being treated Hamilton was breathing and conscious. She was then transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour for further evaluation.

Crothersville Chief Turner is in charge of the investigation.

NASCAR Makes Changes to Races Beginning in Daytona

0

As a result of ongoing feedback from NASCAR’s fans, there will be changes to the format of all races in the top three NASCAR divisions.

The goal of the changes is to make racing better from start to finish and also add more memorable moments along the way.

Below is a short synopsis of the changes to take place starting with the Can-Am Duel at Daytona on February 23rd.

Races will be divided into 3 stages

Stages 1 and 2 each approximately 25-30 percent of the race distance

  • Each stage will have a winner flagged at a designated lap.  The race will then go to caution between stages followed by a mandatory pit stop for each team
  • The Final Stage will consist of the remaining distance – normal race finish rules (i.e., green, white, checkers)

Stages 1 & 2 will award points

  • The top ten finishers of stage 1 & 2 will receive championship points (from 10 points to 1 point)
  • Stage winners will receive one (1)  “segment winner point bonus” for NASCAR Postseason/Playoff seeding, but will NOT receive a playoff berth for a stage win

Final Stage

  • Race (aka the Final Stage) winners of each points event still earn a berth into the playoffs
  • Pays points 1st thru last place finisher

Format will begin for NASCAR Camping World Trucks, NASCAR Xfinity, & Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series with the first race of the 2017 season

The Can-Am Duel will be treated segments, paying points to the top-10 finishers.  Duel winners will NOT earn bonus points or a berth for the post-season.  The Daytona 500 will be the first MENCS race with three (3) full segments.

A panel of drivers, teams, track officials, and NASCAR helped develop the changes including Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, & Joey Logano.

Joe Gibbs Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Roush Fenway Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing represented the current teams at the press conference held earlier this evening.

Former drivers Jeff Gordon & Jeff Burton also participated

The body of a missing 2-year-old boy has been found, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

William G. Roberts

Police say William G. Roberts was located early Sunday just after 2 a.m. Police say the child was dead when he was found.

Roberts was located by members of a search party in a creek near his residence.

The child went missing in Borden, Indiana on Saturday afternoon. He was missing for almost 12 hours, according to authorities.

Police called the search off for the night because it was too dark for the police divers and high tide was making it difficult for the divers according to police.

The search was to resume at 7:00 a.m. Sunday.

Police officers and a few volunteers worked overnight to check the area periodically throughout the night.

Roberts was last seen around 2:30 p.m.,playing in the yard near the creek. The mother took her eyes off him for a moment and the child disappeared, according to authorities.

He was wearing a grey shirt with a Gap logo, and blue jeans.

“A parent reported last seeing the child playing near a creek,” a release from the Clark County Sheriff’s office said.  “The Clark County Sheriff’s Office is utilizing our helicopter, K9 division, and dive team in efforts to locate the missing child. Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and Sellersburg Fire Department are assisting in the matter.”

Young Weighs in on Confirmations and Inauguration

0

United States Senator Todd Young (IN) weighed in on the confirmation of Generals Kelly and Mattis following the Senate’s vote on the first group of cabinet members:

“I was glad to confirm two individuals who will help keep Americans safe and secure at home and abroad. Generals Kelly and Mattis are well respected on both sides of the aisle, and I look forward to working with them. I hope the remaining members of the Cabinet will be confirmed without further delay or obstruction.”

Sen. Young also offered his perspective on the Inauguration ceremony and meeting with Hoosiers prior to the big event:

“Inauguration day is a hopeful time. It is the culmination of the will of Hoosiers and the American people. Today, we come together and, at least for one day, we put our political and ideological differences aside to celebrate a uniquely American tradition: the peaceful transition of power. I was glad to share this experience with hundreds of Hoosiers who made the trip to our nation’s capital for this historic event.”

Alabama Man Arrested for Allegedly Raping a Woman He Met on Online

0

An Alabama man was arrested by Indiana State Police detectives on multiple sexual assault charges after allegedly raping a female me met online.

Jeffrey Scott Vanherreweghe, 23, of Crossville, AL was arrested and Charged with:
– Rape, Level 3 Felony
– Criminal Confinement, Level 5 Felony
– Sexual Battery, Level 6 Felony

On Monday, January 16, Troopers with the Indiana State Police were contacted regarding a report of a female that had taken herself to an Evansville area hospital after being raped in Huntingburg.

Investigators learned that, days earlier, the female had met Vanherreweghe, through the dating app “Tinder”.

Vanherreweghe, who was working locally installing equipment at a facility for his company, met the female Monday evening at the Quality Inn in Huntingburg.

Investigators learned that after initially participating within a consensual relationship, Vanherreweghe allegedly became violent, performing multiple sexual acts on the female against her wishes, while she was attempting to scream for help and for him to stop.  Investigators learned that co-workers of Vanherreweghe knocked on the hotel door multiple times to intervene; Vanherreweghe allegedly told them to go away.

Co-workers were able to use a key to the room from the front desk to attempt to enter; this allegedly allowed for the female to get free from Vanherreweghe long enough to unlock the deadbolt to the room.

The female was able to retrieve her belongings and was escorted from the room by Vanherreweghe’s co-workers.

After speaking with witnesses and ISP Crime Scene Technicians collecting evidence from the hotel room, investigators interviewed Vanherreweghe and later placed him into custody, transporting him without incident to the Dubois County Security Center.
