The Clark County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect, Gary Cooper, 63, and two victims, Tom Cooper and Tim Wolfe were found Saturday in the 17000 block of Michigan Road in Marysville.

According to police, the situation began with an argument between Gary Cooper and his brother, Tom Cooper at their mother’s home in Marysville.

After Gary Cooper left the home, police say Tom Cooper got into a truck and caught up with his brother on Michigan Road.

During a fight between the two, police say Gary Cooper shot his brother in the head with a Ruger .380 pistol.

Tom Cooper went back to his mother’s home and Gary Cooper followed.

As the mother of the suspect and the victim let Tom Cooper into the home, Gary Cooper is then accused of shooting his nephew, Tim Wolfe in the head while in the home’s driveway.

Wolfe went to a nearby vehicle and retrieved a .45 caliber pistol and fired three shots into the air.

Police say Gary Cooper then shot Wolfe in the stomach.

Tom Cooper and Tim Wolfe were both flown to University Hospital in Louisville.

Tom Cooper’s injuries are considered “life-threatening,” while Wolfe’s injuries were labeled “serious.”

Gary Cooper was arrested and in the Clark County Jail.

Friday at 9:00 pm, an Indiana State Trooper was injured in a crash when his vehicle was struck by a commercial motor vehicle northbound on I-65 at the 38 mile marker near Crothersville, Indiana.

Trooper Thiron was traveling northbound on I-65 in his fully marked 2013 Dodge Charger police vehicle when he arrived on the scene.  With his emergency lights activated, Trp. Thiron attempted to change lanes from the shoulder of I-65 into the median where the crashed vehicle was located.

Thiron’s vehicle was struck from behind by a 2012 Freightliner pulling a box trailer, driven by Patrick Gregory, age 30, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Thiron’s vehicle spun into the median and came to rest up against the cable barrier. Thiron was transported to Schneck Medical Center for treatment of possible head injuries.  He was treated and released last night.  Gregory was not injured in the crash.

Northbound lanes were slow for approximately two hours for crash investigation and cleanup.  The investigation is ongoing.

Trp. Thiron has served with the Indiana State Police for approximately one year.

The crash is being investigated by Trooper Matt Holley.  Trp. Holley was assisted by numerous other troopers with the Indiana State Police, the Crothersville Police Department, Jackson County EMS, and the Vernon Township Fire Department.

Around 9:30 A.M. Saturday, the Spencer County Emergency Dispatch received a report of a female who had been severely battered by her boyfriend and was being held against her will in a Saint Meinrad residence.

user33681-1472473468-media1
Troopers Trey Lytton and Ryan Conrad arrived to find a 24 year old female standing outside with a swollen and bloody eye, and bruises on her face, arms and legs.

The female told troopers that she had been in a verbal argument with her boyfriend, 26 year old Corey Collignon of Saint Meinrad. Troopers learned that Collignon punched the female in the eye, knocking her to the floor.

Collignon then grabbed the female by the wrist and dragged her through the living room, kitchen, and a bedroom before dragging her into another room in the house.

Troopers learned that Collignon refused to let the female leave the house by holding her down on the ground and taking her car keys.

The female was able to make a phone call for help and waited inside until officers arrived.

Troopers Lytton and Conrad, with Spencer County Deputies Dale Kessinger, Justin Hester and his K-9 partner “Ciro” searched the residence and property but were unable to find Collignon.

Deputy Hester began a K-9 track to attempt to find Collignon, later finding him in a field. Collignon attempted to run from officers before being taken into custody.

Collignon was transported to and lodged in the Spencer County Jail on multiple felony charges. Collignon was additionally charged with violating a protective and no contact order placed against him.

State Police Sobriety Checkpoint In Switzerland County This Weekend

0

Troopers from the Indiana State Police Versailles Post will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Switzerland County this weekend.

Those drivers passing through the checkpoint area should have their licenses and registrations ready to present to troopers and will only be detained briefly while troopers determine whether further investigation is necessary.

The purpose of sobriety checkpoints is to remove those motorists from the highways who are alcohol or drug impaired and pose a danger to all who use the roadways.  Impaired drivers are responsible for billions of dollars in property damage, person injury, and death annually.

To help to ensure your weekend is safe and enjoyable, observe the following tips:

  • Plan ahead and always use a designated driver.
  • Don’t get behind the wheel of a vehicle if you’ve been consuming alcoholic beverages; call a taxi, a family member, or friend who has not been drinking to give you a ride.
  • If you are hosting a party, always offer alcohol-free beverages and make sure all of your guests leave with a sober driver or allow them to spend the night.
  • Remember, Friends Don’t Let Friends Drive Drunk.  Take the keys and never let a friend leave your sight if you think that they are about to drive while impaired.

If you see a vehicle exhibiting erratic driving behavior, call 911 and give a complete description of the vehicle, its location, and direction of travel.  These reports can be made anonymously.
