Tuesday morning, May 27 at approximately 12:30 a.m. the Indiana State Police Post at Versailles received a transfer 911 call of a shooting incident that had just occurred on Bard Road near Crothersville.
According to Detective Roger Drew, investigators responded to the scene where 35 year old Jay McGinnis of Austin had reported the back window of his 2006 Nissan Altima had been shot out.
McGinnis suffered a very minor injury as a result of the shooting. It is unknown if a bullet, bullet fragment, or glass caused the injury.
Investigators have been working around the clock since the incident and early this morning executed two search warrants near Austin in Scott County. As a result of those search warrants, four individuals were arrested on drug related charges.
While the search warrants executed in Scott County were issued as a result of the shooting investigation, the arrested individuals were not involved in the shooting incident itself. For more details regarding the drug arrests, see the related story at wlsmradio.com
The shooter in the incident has been identified by investigators but has not yet been arrested. Investigators are not releasing that individual’s name at this time but say they do not believe he poses a threat to the public. Agencies assisting the state police with the investigation include Crothersville and Austin Police Departments, and Scott and Jennings County Sheriff’s Departments. This is the only information being released at this time. As more information becomes available or if any additional arrests are made, updated information will be released.
