WSLM ready to kick off Colts Football This Thursday

The Indianapolis Colts will kickoff the 2014 pre-season schedule with a matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in East Rutherford, N.J.

WSLM 97.9 FM begins its second year as the exclusive Louisville FM Affiliate for the Colts and will be promoting the Colts throughout the year with ticket giveaways, on-air interviews and other events.

“It’s great to be starting football on WSLM,” said Becky White, WSLM owner and GM. “We have a full slate of local high school, college and NFL action for the fall and winter months. In addition to the Colts, we’ll have a weekly NFL show and we’ll be bringing Fantasy Football back to the airwaves with the Kentucky Fantasy Football State Championship LIVE show each week.”

Each game, Colts fan an tune in one-hour before the game for the pre-game show with Bob Lamey, the voice of the Colts. Following the regular game broadcast, catch the post-game show on WSLM.

“A lot of Louisville fans of the Colts will listen to the pre-game and post-game show on their way up to and back from the games,” said White. “We strive to have programming for everyone and we’re in the heart of Colts Country here in Southern Indiana.”

The Colts finished the 2013 campaign with an 11-5 record and their first AFC South Division Title since 2010. Indianapolis also notched its 13th 10-plus-win season in the past 15 years,

which is the most of any team since 1999. The Colts posted a perfect 6-0 division record for the first time since 2009.

Indianapolis brought in a few new faces during free agency this year, including S-Colt Anderson, ILB-D’Qwell Jackson, DE-Arthur Jones and WR-Hakeem Nicks. The team also re-signed several key veterans, including RB-Ahmad Bradshaw, S-Sergio Brown, CB-Vontae Davis, P-Pat McAfee and K-

The Colts selected five players in the 2014 NFL Draft, headlined by T/G-Jack Mewhort (Ohio State) and WR-Donte Moncrief (Mississippi) in the second and third rounds.

Following Thursday’s preseason game against the Jets, the Colts will return to Anderson University to continue their 2014 training camp.

Practices will resume on Saturday, August 9.
