A one-vehicle rollover crash this afternoon east of Huntingburg claimed the life of a Birdseye woman and sent another to the hospital.
Around 2:08 this afternoon, Reva N. Enlow, 26, Birdseye, was traveling eastbound on State Road 64, when the passenger side wheels of the silver 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee she was driving left the south side of the roadway.
Enlow attempted to correct the vehicle by driving back onto the roadway; however, cut the wheels too sharp, causing the vehicle to spin. The Jeep traveled sideways off of the north side of the roadway and rolled, coming to rest upside down, on the edge of a cornfield.
As the vehicle rolled over, the passenger, Cassie Lee Turner, 25, Birdseye, was thrown from the front passenger window.
After attempts by Memorial Hospital EMS and St. Anthony First Responders to revive her, Turner died as a result of her injuries.
Enlow was airlifted from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville, where she was treated for injuries to her head, spleen, and back. She is listed in stable condition. Neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
