Salem, IN – Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer Tom Browning will be in Salem on Monday, October 26 at Salem High School’s presentation room to encourage baseball fans to join the newest Reds Hall of Fame Chapter, starting with the help of Reds Radio Affiliate WSLM.

“We are so excited about setting up a new chapter in Reds Country,” said Sherry Rowland, Hall of Fame Membership Coordinator.  “Reds Hall of Fame Members receive exclusive member gifts during the season which include bobble heads, and members enjoy special benefits such as 10% discount on Hall of Fame merchandise, discounts on special events, one Redsfest pass, one year admittance into the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum, admittance into the National Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, and more”

Admission to the event in Salem is $5 for current Hall of Fame members and $15 for non-members. Non-members can join at the event and then pay the $5 member fee.

For those who join the Reds Hall of Fame at this event, they will receive a 1990 Commemorative Reds World Series Ring. Rowland said the $5 or $15 Admission goes directly to support  the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. Find membership levels and pricing at www.redsmuseum.org or call Rowland at 513-765-7926.

“We will have a small auction with an awesome item or two from the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum that our guests will be able to bid on,” said Rowland. “We want this to be a great experience for fans.”

Not only will you be able to get more information about the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum, said WSLM Owner and General Manager Becky White, “but you’ll be able to ask Browning questions during the presentation. You’re going to be able to get an autograph from Mr. Perfect, Tom Browning!”

On the night of Sept. 16, 1988, Tom Browning pitched the 13th perfect game in baseball history and the first in the history of baseball’s oldest professional team.

Browning will speak for about an hour and guests will be able to sign up to participate in the silent auction on the Reds Hall of Fame items.

“We encourage Reds fans from all over the WSLM listening area and Southern Indiana to participate in this new venture,” said White. “The chapter will be a way to collectively meet during the year and get together for special events.”

Rowland said she needs at least 25 members to establish an official chapter of the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum in Salem. An official charter listing the original members will be presented at an event in the chapter’s area, and this will hang in the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. The chapter will be listed on the Hall of Fame website page at www.redsmuseum.org

During the coming year, there will be a Chapter Day at the Hall of Fame which will include an exclusive event at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum.

All chapter members will receive membership benefits at the level at which they choose to join and the membership is valid for one year.
