Mary Jo Elder, age 84, passed away peacefully, surround by family, on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at her residence. She was born November 7, 1931 in Evansville, IN to the late John & Vera (Durbin) Snyder.
She graduated in from Nazareth Academy in Bardstown, KY. And she was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church at Bradford, IN.
On June 20, 1953 she married Jim Elder who survives.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Klaus) Lauer of Brazoria, TX and Susan (Keith) Deaton of Corbin, KY. Four sons, Tim (Shari) Elder of Corydon, Mark (Angela) Elder of Lanesville, Kenny (Gerri) Elder of Georgetown, KY and Ricky Elder of Georgetown, IN, 15 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren and one sister, Vera Mae Mobley, Bloomington, IN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, infant son James Jr. & Chris Elder & eleven brothers & sisters.
Mary was an artist and enjoyed painting, ceramics, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and serving God.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with cremation to follow.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdayat the funeral home
There will be a Rosary recited at7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Love Funeral Home.
All arrangements are being handled by Love Funeral Home, Palmyra.
