WSLM RADIO is partnering with Salem Community Schools to recognize and award a different teacher each month for their achievements and leadership within the school corporation.
“I was approached by Bradie M. Shrum Elementary Principal Brent Minton who wanted to work with me to help recognize teachers within the Salem Community School system,” said WSLM Owner Becky White. “Teachers are very important and do so much to shape the lives and behavior of our children – that might go unnoticed. This is a chance to bring recognition to and highlight those teachers throughout the year.”
Minton said teachers from the elementary, middle and high school will be recognized. All entries will be taken into consideration before a finalist is chosen each month.
THE INFLUENCE OF A GOOD TEACHER IS NOT EASILY ERASED!
“Education was very important to my father, who was a graduate of Indiana University -Bloomington and an English teacher and debate sponsor at Salem High School before founding WSLM 1220 AM in 1953,” said White.

“He always impressed up on me and my children – the importance of getting a good education and how important teachers are. In fact, he served as a board member of the former Lee John Fultz School for many years,” White said.
“Not only do I get to serve as a member of the school board, but this offers me a chance to recognize teachers for their hard work! I was so excited when I was approached with this opportunity. Not only can WSLM continue to promote education but also promote and celebrate the wonderful teachers we have at Salem School Corporation.”
Each winner is provided a certificate and 30oz Yeti Rambler insulated cup, courtesy of WSLM.
Teacher will also receive a t-shirt, with the Teacher of the Month logo, courtesy of Linck’s Clothing and a Cinnamon desert from Papa John’s of Salem.
Each winning teacher will be promoted on WSLM 1220 AM and 97.9 FM with a weekly TEACHER MOMENT feature, wslmradio.com as well as WSLM’s social media sites.
