Six Arrested For Drugs and Parahernalia

On January 7th, 2017, Scott County Sheriff Deputies along with an Indiana State Trooper assisted Indiana State Parole Agents on a Warrant Service in Austin, Indiana. Parole Agents were looking for Parolee Jerry Newton; Newton was located at 1215 North US Highway 31 in Austin, Indiana along with five additional individuals.

During a search of the residence, authorities located methamphetamine, controlled substances, marijuana, paraphernalia, hypodermic needles, alcohol prep pads, and numerous kits containing naloxone. Those items were located in various areas throughout the residence.

All six subjects were arrested and transported to Scott County Security Center.

Arrested and charged were:

Jerry Newton – Parole Warrant, Maintaining a Common Nuisance, Possession of a Legend Drug or Precursor, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Hypodermic Syringes, Possession of Paraphernalia, Possession of a Schedule I, II, III, or IV Controlled Substance, and Possession of Marijuana.

Arbana Church – Visiting a Common Nuisance and Possession of Methamphetamine

Arlie Campbell Jr. – Visiting a Common Nuisance and Possession of a Legend Drug

Amanda Jones – Visiting a Common Nuisance

Sheriff Dan McClain encourages the citizens of Scott County to report any suspicious activity, including drug activity, to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff McClain reminds the citizens that the Sheriff’s Office maintains several options for reporting criminal activity anonymously including the department’s website, facebook page, and a tip line.
