United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler, announced today a Seymour, Indiana, man was sentenced in federal court for production of child pornography. Robert D. Jenkins, 50, was sentenced to 28 years’ imprisonment by U.S. District Judge Sarah Evans Barker.

“Protecting innocent children from adult predators remains one of the highest priorities in this office,” said Minkler. “Those who abuse our most vulnerable victims will be held strictly accountable.”

In March 2015, the victim’s mother discovered five sexually explicit images of her 9-year-old daughter on Jenkin’s cell phone. The images appeared to have been taken in Jenkin’s home.

The victim’s mother took the phone and reported the incident to the Seymour Police Department. Further forensic analysis was conducted on the cell phone and additional sexually explicit images of the victim were discovered.

Jenkins was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor and child molestation in Jackson County, Indiana, in 2001, and was sentenced to three year’s incarceration.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Indiana State Police, Prosecutor Amy Marie Travis and the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Seymour Police Department.

Assistant United States Attorney Bradley Shepard who prosecuted the case for the government said, Jenkins must serve 10 years of supervised release following his prison term.
