Larry Bills, Salem Animal Control Officer wants to remind Salem residents it’s time to renew their City tags are due the first of January.
“You can go to the City Clerk’s office or come to the shelter,” said Bills.
If dogs or cats in the city limits haven’t been neutered or spayed, the tags are $6. If they have been, they are $2.
Bills reminded pet owners that rabies vacinations are due a year from when their shots are were given.
“There is free assistance for households making less than $30,000. There are vouchers for spay and neuter for cats and dogs,” said Bills.
Donations are still welcome at the shelter. Bills said they are always in need of Pine sol, paper towels, Clorox wipes and bleach cleaners.
“We can use volunteers,” said Bills. “But we would like them in the mornings about 9a.”
The shelter hours are Monday – Friday, 12:30p to 4:30 and Saturdays from 10a – 2p.
