Yesterday, shortly before 9:00 pm, the Indiana State Police responded to a head on crash on State Road 129 near Mud Pike in Ripley County that claimed the life of two people in separate vehicles.
The initial investigation by Trooper Andrew Garrett, ISP-Versailles District Crash Reconstruction Team, determined that a 2004 red Nissan passenger car being driven by Amanda L. Shadday, age 34, Batesville, Indiana was traveling northbound on State Road 129 near Mud Pike.
Shadday’s vehicle crossed the centerline into the path of a southbound black 2009 Toyota Camry, being driven by Tracy Lipps, age 61, Osgood, Indiana. The vehicles struck head on in the southbound lane of State Road 129.
As a result of the crash, Shadday sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner’s Office.
A passenger n Lipps’ vehicle, Ralph Lawson, age 64, Virginia, also sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ripley County Coroner’s Office. Tracy Lipps sustained serious injuries in the crash. She was airlifted to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Toxicology results are still pending at this time.
Both families have been notified.
