Multi-Agency Investigation Leads to Arrest of Four From North Vernon

On March 2nd, Detectives with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office along with the Indiana State Police ACP unit began an investigation into the location of three people that were wanted on various arrest warrants from Jennings County and Jefferson County.
 
Michael D. Brown, 49, was arrested at a location in Seymour, Indiana on a Jefferson County warrant for failure to register as a sex offender a Level 6 Felony with a bond set at $10,000.

The investigation continued and on March 4th, Breanna Howell, 20, was taken into custody at a location in North Vernon for two counts of possession of a syringe a Level 6 Felony with a bond set at $1055.00.
 
Throughout the night investigators followed leads which eventually led to the arrest of two more wanted persons in North Vernon.
 
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, and officers from the North Vernon Police Department went to a residence in North Vernon and located Shawn Kuhlman and Melissa Brown, both wanted on warrants through Jennings County.

During the search of the residence, Melissa Brown was located hiding inside a wall and Kuhlman was found hiding under a dresser and fought with officers during his apprehension.
 
Melissa Brown,47, was arrested on three Jennings County misdemeanor warrants and new charges of resisting law enforcement, (class A misdemeanor) and escape (level 5 felony). Brown is being held in the Jennings County Jail on four separate bonds of $1055.00, $2055.00, $2055.00, and $2055.00.

Shawn Kuhlman, 25, was arrested on two Jennings County felony warrants and new charges of two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer (level 6 felony), possession of methamphetamine (level 6 felony), possession of paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), escape (level 5 felony), trafficking with an inmate, (level 5 felony) and resisting law enforcement, (class A misdemeanor).
 
Kuhlman is currently being held in the Jennings County Jail on four separate bonds of $6255.00, $2605.00, $2605.00, and $1055.00.

The investigation is continuing with more arrests expected.
