On January 21, 2021, in the continuing effort to make Scott County the safest county in Indiana, Detective Jacklyn Shofner received a cyber tip. The tip was provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children “NCMEC” and Internet Crimes against Children “ICAC” on alleged child pornography.

Detective Shofner is assigned to the ICAC task force and an investigation was initiated.

Through the course of the investigation, multiple search warrants were filed, which included a search warrant for an address located at Apartment #74 in the Pine Street Apartments in Scottsburg, IN.

On April 27, 2021, Detective Shofner, Indiana State Police, ICAC detectives, and deputies with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office executed the residential search warrant.

As a result, Christopher Moore, 31, of Scottsburg was arrested on four counts of Level 4 Felony Child Exploitation; Possession of Child Pornography charges.

Moore was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail and is awaiting his first court appearance.  This investigation is still ongoing.

Sheriff Goodin has prioritized investigating crimes against the community’s most vulnerable citizens.

Through continuing education, training, and relationships with state and federal agencies the Scott County Sheriff’s Office is one of the best trained and best-equipped agencies in Indiana to help in the fight against cybercrimes, according to Goodin.
