The day Carmelita Sue Jean had been living for came on August 18, 2021, when she met her Lord and Savior. She was born on January 16, 1938, to Wilmer and Marjorie Myers of Pekin, Indiana.
Carmelita’s deep love of her family was surpassed only by her love for God.
She was a wonderful friend to friends and strangers alike. Known for her love of cooking, she prepared many meals for friends and family.
When sitting down at her table, one knew they were going to have a delicious meal and be encouraged, possibly called out and strengthened (if you know, you know).
Those who know her life and the way in which she lived it will say she finished well. Carmelita was a force for good in her community, her church, and her family.
She demonstrated a never-wavering faith and willingness to share it with all who would listen.
Those who mourn her passing include her husband of 61 years, Burl, and two daughters, Jennifer Tomlinson and her husband Wade and Allison Ezzell and her husband Joe, along with four grandchildren, Hope Tomlinson, Carter and Katie Ezzell, and Macie Tomlinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Riley Jean Tomlinson.
Visitation will be held at Southern Hills Church, 1645 S. Highway 135, Salem, Indiana on Sunday, August 22 from 2-8 PM and Monday, August 23 from 10 AM -time of service.
The funeral will take place on Monday, August 23 at 11 AM at Southern Hills Church with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Washington County Community Foundation or the Southern Hills Church benevolence fund.
