Mae Colaw, age 91, of Salem passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023 at her residence. Born June 7, 1931 in Powell County, Kentucky, Mae was the daughter of the late Willie Wilburn and Gerdie (Centers) Wilburn. On April 17, 1950, she married Ewell Colaw who preceded her in death.
Mae was a retired farmer and member of the Canton United Methodist Church.
She is survived by 1 daughter, Almira Colaw; 2 brothers: Donald Wilburn, Denver Wilburn; 3 grandchildren: William Colaw, Margaret Schraub, and Teresa Sizemore; 3 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell Colaw; parents, Willie and Gerdie Wilburn; 2 sons: Harvey Allen Colaw and William Ronald Colaw; 2 foster sons, Fred Steven Daniels and Roy Daniels; 3 brothers: Damon Wilburn, Desmond Wilburn, and Delmont Wilburn; and 4 sisters: Vivian Townson, Gloria Mick, Betty Duff, and Dottie Daniels.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home-Salem Chapel with Connie Ison officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
