Jo Ann Carty, age 89 of Salem, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024,
in her residence.
Jo Ann Carty
Born August 1, 1935 in Georgetown, Indiana, she was the daughter of the
late Ralph Elbert and Harriet Angeline (Byrne) Smith.
On December 17, 1955 she married Charles Boyd Carty M.D., who passed
away September 14, 1989.
She was a retired employee of Carty-Kemker Family Medicine and was most
proud of her lifetime of being a registered nurse where she organized
and managed the medical practices of Dr. Charles Carty, Dr. Kalen Carty and Dr. Stephen Kemker for nearly 50 years.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include: 2 Sons: David (Lorna) Carty and Joel (Karen) Carty,
both of Salem; Daughter: Kalen (Stephen) Carty-Kemker of Salem:
Grandchildren: Layla Carty, Athena (Jason) Springer, Chelsea (Ryan)
Steepleton, Cierra (TJ) Blake, Charles DJ (Dani) Carty, Tia Carty, Alex
Carty, Kristian (Aimee) Kemker, Colin (Rhiannon) Kemker and Caitlin Kemker.
Great grandchildren: Heathcliff, Maverick, Elliott, Adler, Mason, Riley,
James, Alex, Angeline, Adam, Lilly, Brayden, Harley, Andee, Joe, Emma
and another girl on the way.
Funeral Service: 2:00 pm Saturday at Dawalt Funeral Home, followed by
interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Visitation: 9 am until the time of the service on Saturday at Dawalt
Funeral Home.
Purdue Basketball will premier its 2023-24 season-highlight video, Phoenix: A Purdue Basketball Story on Sept. 27, in Mackey Arena beginning at 9 p.m. ET, following Purdue University’s Homecoming parade.
The release coincides with the start of the 2024-25 season, and the first official practice taking place earlier in the week on Sept. 23.
Admission is free, but tickets will be required to gain admittance. Limited concessions will be sold and doors to Mackey Arena will open at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The video lasts about one-hour and 20-minutes and features highlights and behind-the-scenes footage from the season opener on Nov. 6, all the way through the National Championship game on April 8, in Phoenix.
