While doing so, Wright lost his footing and fell to his knees. While attempting to stand back, Wright’s shotgun discharged a round striking his left hand. The exact cause of the discharge is still under investigation.
Wright was able to call 911 for help. The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department and EMS responded to the scene.
Wright was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis by ambulance. Wright’s injuries are not life threatening, but he is expected to undergo surgery for his injuries.

State Sen. Erin Houchin (R-Salem) announced the Indiana Senate is now accepting applications for the Page Program.

This full-day interactive program gives students in grades six through 12 the opportunity to tour the Indiana Statehouse, observe session debates on the Senate floor, and assist staff with age-appropriate tasks. Students will also meet with their state senator.
“Having students from our district come to the Statehouse to page is one of my favorite parts of the legislative session,” Houchin said. “This opportunity allows students to get a glimpse of how their state government works firsthand and will hopefully spark an interest in public service for years to come.”
The 2017 Senate Page Program will run from Jan. 23 through mid-April. Positions fill quickly, so it is important to sign up early. Pages are scheduled for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the legislative session starting at 8:30 a.m. and dismissing at 3:30 p.m. Groups serve together on Wednesdays. Serving as a page is considered an excused absence from school.
