Eastern High School has announced its exit at the end of this year year from the Mid Southern Conference and Madison will officially taken its place on the 9-team roster.
The transition will take place at the end of the current sports season and the new alignment will begin with the 2026-27 season, which would allow time for scheduling adjustments and smooth integration.
It is not known if Eastern will join another conference or remain independent.
Eastern High School has hired Jordan Williams as it’s 5th Head Football Coach since beginning the program in 2007.
Williams is a graduate of Charlestown High School having played and coached under longtime coach Jason Hawkins.
The MSC, which started in 1958 with seven schools, will now include the Austin Eagles, Brownstown Braves, Charlestown Pirates, Corydon Panthers, Salem Lions, Scottsburg Warriors, Madison Cubs, North Harrison Cougars and the Silver Creek Dragons.
Eastern started its football program in 2007 and since joining the MSC, have went 36-147 over the past 17 years and won seven sectional first-round games.
The MSC remains committed to fostering excellence in academics and athletics while maintaining the high level of competition that defines the conference.
