Lee Roy Smith, age 83 of Salem, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026 at Meadow View Health and Rehab.
Mr. Smith was born July 4, 1942 in Little York, Indiana, the son of Warden Smith and Flora Roberts Smith. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and was retired from GM in Bedford.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra Lewis Smith, they were married on July 9, 1972. He is also survived by his children: Rick Batchelor (Susie) of Clay City, IL, Danny Batchelor of Wasilla, AK, Scott Batchelor (Heather) of Mitchell, IN, Tara Tackett (Del) of Glasglow KY, and Danny (Candy Kay) Smith of Milltown, IN., his grandchildren: Brandon Batchelor, Amy Batchelor, David Batchelor, Danielle Craig (Brendon), Rich Batchelor, Isaac Greer, Zaida Greer, Aleena Tackett and Harlowe Tackett, his great grandchildren: Charles Craig and Livia Craig and his brothers: Benny, Ray and Mike Smith.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Gibb Smith, Cecil Smith and Kenneth Smith, and his sisters, Veda Naugle, Fran Bowling, Bernice Garrett and Sandy Graham.
Services for Mr. Smith will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 1:00P.M at Weathers Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00A.M until the time of service. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery following the service.
